EX58-UD5 HD sound from on board sound card
« on: April 12, 2010, 04:28:42 pm »
Hi,

I have an i7 build with the EX58-UD5 motherboard and am using the on board (realtek HD) sound card. I tried to play a movie in mkv format but was getting no sound. Other formats such as avi work, I also confirmed the mkv had sound by playing it on my laptop. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows of a driver I need. Oh yeh I am running Windows 7 (64-bit)

Many Thanks

Hi
which software are you using for media playback?

Hi,

I also use VLC and have not had any issues with this format.
However I am not using your Mobo (I'm AMD based) and have the 889 Realtek chip. I don't know if this makes a difference.

There is a fairly new driver for Realtek Audio, released on the 12/4/2010 it might address this issue. You can download it from here: http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=2958&ost=windows+7+64bit#anchor_os

Hope this works for you.
