GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0), error 55.

Hello, I recently put together a pc using the GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 motherboard, but there seems to be an error with the system detecting the RAM.  In any other slot besides slot 1 the board does not acknowledge the RAMs presence, and will give me the error code 55 and not boot up.  I've swapped both sticks of RAM into this slot and the  PC has booted up normally, and tried every configuration possible.  any advice on how to solve this problem?

thank you very much for any help you can give me.

specs:
intel i7-6700k
G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3400
GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151
ASUS GeForce gtx970

It is the memory these boards have a hard time with faster memory. I would traded the 3400 for 2133. There is really no speed boost going to that memory. Now I'm not saying it will not work. But you have to get 2133 to be able to update the bios to maybe run the 3400.

The memory will say you are running 3400 but it is really still running at 2133. The 3400 will not make your computer run any faster.

So, if I -can- get to the bios/my pc to boot with the one stick of ram, a bios update might fix the problem?  because lanuching with one stick of 3400 hasnt been a problem thus far.

Yes and no the bios has 3 updates to fix memory problems. The memory you have is xmp supported. All you can do is try and see what happens.

So I would be wasting my time trying to figure out why my 3600 running at 2133 benches at 17744MB/s and running at 3600 with XMP I get 9785MB/s?

To me it is like a fake OC. I don't waste my time on faster memory. You can run 2133 or you can 3600 and there is no speed boost at all. To me they are getting you to buy faster memory that doesn't really go any faster then the 2133.

I have the similar problem; code 55 with blank screens. And I can't even know where to look for BIOS version when submitting the technical support ticket.

Mobo: GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151
CPU: Intel i7-6700k
RAM:  GSkill Ripsjaw set (4x16GB), 3000MHz DDR4, Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3000C15Q-64GVR (it's inside Gigabyte and Gskills Qualified Vendor Listing)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 980 6GB Ti extreme  (don't think this is the problem as it persists after removing the GPU).
