Memory_Management BSOD : F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ + X58A-UD3R
« on: June 10, 2016, 10:21:00 am »
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R, revision 2.0
BIOS version: FH
Memory: G.SKill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ
Processor: i7-930
OS: Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit
Memory settings : 1.6V, 9-9-9-24 2T
BCLK : Please note I am now running 4ghz (181 x 21 ) but similar settings for the others in images

Few things to note:

  - I recently started noticing this bizarre BSOD "Memory_Management" especially upon cold booting. This happens everytime without fail when I come back from work

  - I fix it by manually changing any settings (voltage, multiplier etc) in the BIOS and it boots into Windows fine, and also tests Prime95 fine.

  - I tried to run Memtest overnight but when I woke up, my computer was asleep...?

  - Tried xmp profile1 as per this poster and it gave me 'detecting dram size' crash loop and not able to boot http://www.gskill.us/forum/showpost.php?p=23020&postcount=11

Can someone please help me ? Still love this machine as the x58 platform is still quite good after 6 years

Screenshots of my BIOS settings and CPU-Z as attached

I have this mobo http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#ov

After I bought it used I lightly dropped one end of system, stock i7 cooler (old) broke lose. Ever since I've been having odd ram problems trying to run 3x 4GB tri channel that the system came with - BUT it seems to be more related to bios settings I had 12GB working but in non tri channel slots, OS X hackint0sh corrupted bios settings requiring cmos reset- since I couldn't boot with that stick in any slot.

I would maybe re-seat cpu, clean ram contacts / ram slot contacts. I've read here and "tweaktown" ? that seems to help people.

Do you ever get the "long" cold boots? Since going from 12GB to 8GB cold boots take 10~ seconds for bios to appear on screen. Once "hot" takes 2-3 sec

I hear odd bios/boot activity also can relate to cpu socket.

I also read here and elsewhere these mainboards may require 1.65v+ for ram requiring 1.65v- I tried I think 1.660 with 3x 4GB, didn't help. Now I run same 1.640 for 2x 4GB.

Slightly off topic, I kinda want to try your overclock settings roughly with this i7-950- I can only gain more ghz via multiplier- any BCLK change results in non booting system :[

What multiplier is your i7-950 at ?

I read that odd numbers have better stability
