Z97X-UD5H BK having issues resuming from sleep
« on: July 02, 2016, 04:15:46 pm »
Hi all. Recently my motherboard has been having issues resuming from sleep. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version but it did not fix the problem. When I try to resume from sleep, it gives me a "5d" error code, which is listed as "reserved" in the manual. The fans don't spin and the PC just refuses to boot.

When this happens, I reset the PC but the first boot always fails. I have to reset it a second time for it to boot normally. This is a huge inconvenience. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks!

My specs are below:

i5-4670K (no OC) + Z97X-UD5H BK
16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1600
XFX R9 280X (2 monitors, 1 via DVI-D and 1 via mini-DP)
Seasonic 620W PSU
Samsung 850 EVO 256GB SSD

Specs
Requirements
External Power - 6-pins : 1
External Power - 8-pins : 1
Minimum Power Supply Requirement : 750 watt
XFX Recommended Power Supply : XFX 850W PSU

Looks as if your Seasonic 620W PSU is unable to bring it out of sleep. Does not meet XFX minimum power requirements.

Is 5D the code you get from the MB. or is this a windows STOP error?  I suspect you mean the MB, but wanted to confirm?  Your PSU is a little "lite" like Tiger states.  How many 12v rails 1 or 2?

I don't think the PSU is underpowered at all. I have close to the same system specs, I5-4690K, UD3H BK, 16gig hyper X, Powercolor R9 280X, 1 SSD, 4 HDs, DVD, Antec 620w HCG, 32" TV as a monitor, and according to my PowerChute software from my UPS I use less than 150w at normal tasks and never gone over 250w (actually never seen it get anywhere near that) when encoding video with Premiere or audio with Freac. Even with heavy gaming the gpu should only be in the 250-260w range at most and the rest shouldn't take much more than 125w if that, so say 400w tops.
