GA-B150N + Crucial MX200 250GB SATA M.2 - Not compatible?
« on: July 08, 2016, 06:21:24 pm »
Hi,

I can't install OS (I try Win10 and Ubuntu) on PC with Gigabyte motherboard GA-B150N and SSD Crucial 250GB SATA M.2 (CT250MX200SSD6). Installation process always stop on creating partition phase. Hardware is new, fresh buy. I updated BIOS to version F2, but it didn't help. Maybe this Crucial is not compatybile with GA-B150N? Please confirm if it is a true, or help me solve this problem. Sorry for my english.

Regards
Piotr

Does the motherboard see the drive? I had a CT250MX200SSD4 and it would only work in the new 170 series boards.

Yes, GA-B150N recognize the drive. The problem shows up during Windows installation on phase where you can format drive or create partitions. In this moment drive disappears, even from BIOS. After turn off/on PC, drive shows up again in BIOS.

I checked my Crucial on another motherboard - ASUS B150M-PLUS and everything works just fine. So, looks like CT250MX200SSD6 is not compatible with GA-B150N :(

I have no idea what to do next. I bought new ITX PC and i can't run it :(

Crucial strikes again.  Yes, it might work with other hardware, but I assure you its the drive, not the board.  You aren't doing anything wrong....  its just the drive.  Admittedly I'm not a fan of crucial SSD products.  Their compatibility issues are unrivaled in the industry.

Latest FW can help:

My suggestion however, try Samsung or Corsair and move on.   :)

I tried to update firmware but I it doesn't help.

I ordered SSD Samsung 850 Evo 250GB M.2 (MZ-N5E250BW) with hope, that it will work.

Thank you for help.
