New build boot up with no bios screen

New build boot up with no bios screen
« on: July 17, 2016, 07:17:25 pm »
Hi,

This is my first time building a PC

I have;

Motherboard: gigabyte g1 Z170MX GAMING 5
CPU: i7 6700 skylake
Ram: 2X corsair Vengeance DDR 4
GPU: GTX 1070

The issue I'm having is, everything is connected in correct (including power the cpu). When powering on, everything turns on, the fans all start but then turn off only leaving the cpu fan spinning. No bios screen comes on screen. There are also no beeps.

Everything is newly bought. Am I missing something here?

Any help will be HUGELY appreciated

What is the memory speed. A lot of theses boards don't like memory that is supported for X99 boards.

Hi, thanks for the speedy response!

After doing more searches I tried shorting the pins in the battery to reset the CMOS and that worked. Now currently installing Windows. You should see the smile on my face right now!

PLEASE explain what you mean by "shorting the pins in the battery". I am tearing my hair out with the exact same problem!

He is talking about jumping out the two pins for the cmos. There was at one time 3 pins with a jumper. But they don't that any move. If you look at the front panel plug you will see two pins near the top of it CLR CMOS.

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you said but it didn't work. I had the power off...does it need to be on?

The power should be off and really the power should be pull too. Plus you have to short or jump them out for at lease 30 sec.

Well, I tried again holding it longer than 30 seconds. No better. When I turn it on, the 3 MB lights come on, system fans turn for a few seconds then it all shuts off. After a few seconds it tries again, same result.  I finally have to shut it off using the power supply switch as the case switch doesn't do the trick.
IDEAS PLEASE !!!!!!!
