No problems in here - just chuffed

Hi all,

I've built and upgraded PC's in the past but I've not built a complete system for quite a while - until today. My son (19, at Uni) wanted a gaming PC so got some Black Friday deals and I've built it with him today:

Board    GA-Z170-Gaming K3-EU Mobo
CPU       Intel Core i5 6400
Cooler    Corsair Hydro H45 CPU Cooler
Case      FRACTAL Define R4 WHITE
PSU       EVGA 650 BQ PSU
GPU       MSI 7970 R9
RAM      G.Skill F4-2666C15D-8GRR 8GB DDR4 Ripjaws
Boot      Samsung PM961 Polaris 256GB M.2 PCIe 3.0 (x4) NVMe
Storage Samsung 1TB HDD

I have donated the M.2 drive from my PC (as I was running 2 of them) and a friend has donated the GPU - and I've managed to build it for just over £500.

Amazingly, it booted FIRST TIME but later found there was a problem with the reset button and the power LED's. I scrapped using the Gigabyte front panel insertion tool thing and put the cables in manually. I also ha  an issue with the connecting the case fans using the Molex which stopped the whole PC from booting - but that was easily resolved.

It's all up and running now and in the future, if I upgrade my i5 6600k to an i7, I can pass the 6600k to my son.

I'm a very happy bunny :)
