Gigabyte AB350M-gaming AM4 + Ryzen 7 1700x problem

Hi guys, got the 1700x on a gigabyte ab350m matx board with hyperx 2x16 gb 2400mhz ram and getting some problems. First symptom came with win10 installation was super slow but eventually finished. Then would get intermittent non boots, maybe 1 out of 10 reboots would get stuck at the mobo splash screen. Hard reset with power button would make it work. Next is the super high temp readings, idle at 55-60c, prime95 over 80c beeping all over. Finally the random laggy system on random reboots. Opening menus or doing anything in os became super choppy with occasional lockups and crashes. When it's choppy, cpu bench in Cinebench drop by 300 points and gpu fps results drop by half, although clock speeds seem to remain the same. Reboots solved this. All voltage seems normal reported by gigabyte's SIV hardware monitor.

Everything is set to stock with newest bios/drivers. I know it's not the vid card, or psu as they were perfect before i swapped the mobo,cpu,and ram in. To rule out the ram i ran memtest86 for 2passes quickly just to see if any errors. So now it's down to either mobo or cpu problem, chances of cpu being bad are rare, so I'm thinking the mobo has some issues. Was going to try and set the ram to 2133 but F2 bios is not allowing me to change anything.

Side note, I pulled one ram stick so only running on 1x16g 2400 ram and the system seems more responsive and have yet to crash. Tried both ram sticks separately on slot 1 and slot 2 and neither has crashed nor felt choppy. Problem with the board and running dual channel ram? Going to put in 2 sticks again but on slot 3 and 4 this time to see how it goes.

Anyone else with this board and similar problem? Or anyone WITHOUT any problems and can confirm mine's a defective board rather than the whole lineup is having teething issues?

To me Ryzen already smells like a cheap overtuned design .. it's supposed to be a (TDP) 95 watt?
In Australia this thing would not survive a summer.

Ya I saw that, pretty big flaw it seems, but easy to fix either from mobo manufacturer or wait for am4 heatsinks to come out with proper mounting gear. Was happy with my gammaxx 300 but might have to shell out $80 for a noctua now

I have experience wth AB350-gaming AM4 + Ryzen 7 1700x.
With last bios (f6d) and Big Typhoon cooler from thermaltake  I got system to fail boot bios: no overclock, go to bios, smart fan page and leave board for 1-2 hours.
VRM temp grow to 80-86C then bios fail init after restart. Then motherboard need time to cooling in poweroff state to start.

I suspect this power scheme require additional cooling to work stable with CPU TDP 95W.
I return my GA-AB350-Gaming 3.
Later will get GA-AX370-Gaming 5: IR35201 (6+2) + IR3553. I hope this will no overheat VRM.

ax370 not owerheating me max temperature on cpu with 3,7 GHZ is 55 celsia but there i problem with cpu bus speed becous its locked and then you cant get memory up then 2400 mhz everything higher not even boot and its reset

CPU temperature is not interesting.
My CPU temp max was 61-63C.

Please, update bios to last version, enter bios, go to smart fan page and stay for 1-2 hours.
Then check temperatures.
CPU should be like after benchmark - if not then bios does not bench CPU and other makes no sense.
See VRM temperatures, this much more interesting for me.

CPU: 60C
System 1: 44C
Chipset: 59C
PCIEX16: 51C
VRM MOS: 83C - !!!!
VSOC MOS: 71C

Check carefully that you were using the correct memory slots for dual channel operation. If you had both memory modules on the same channel, there would be a loss in performance, even assuming the memory is set up to run at the same speed (which it would be more likely to have trouble doing).

I have the AB350m gaming 3 board and my temps are really better on the this board then on the MSI board. The MSi board I was using the heat sink and fan that came with the CPU and yes in the bios they could go to 60c.

I replace the heat sink and fan with cooler master Hyper T4. Now temps never went over 38c in the bios on the MSi board. On the Gigabyte board the temps are running around 30c in the bios.

On the memory are they on the gigabyte list for this board? I have found that if you use memory that supports X99 & Z170 board you might have some problems. If you use the memory that just supports just x99 board it will run fine.

On the FM2 and Ryzen CPU do run hotter then the FX CPU so you really can't use their junk heat sink & fan on the FM2 & Ryzen CPU's. I build a lot computers every year.

How can you tell for sure if you're using the correct slot?
