X58A UD3R Rev 2 + Patriot Viper II Sector 7 (6x4gb) memory issue

I've been using this mobo (Bios ver. FH) with 12gb (3x4gb) for six years without any problems. I bought a new set of 12gb (3x4gb)  and after installing them I realize that in the Bios all of them are installed but only 4 slots are enabled, and Windows says the same thing, that I have 24gb installed but only 16gb are available. All of the new memories seems to work properly because I change the order in the slots and always get the same result, total of 16gb enabled, and 24gb installed.

What I could be doing wrong? Any Ideas?
Thanks.

Solved.
I'm not a technician so I'm not sure of what I did, but I tell you so may help someone.
Somehow when installed additional 12gb the motherboard seems to swith to dual-channel so slots 5 and 6 were disabled, one of the possible memory setup for dual-channel according mobo's manual. So first a leave memories in slots 1-3-5 and 2, resulting on 16gb installed/enabled with tri-channel mode back again. Enter Bios, save and exit. Then added again slots 4 and 6, so there's when I get 24gb installed/enabled in tri-channel mode.
That's it.

Interesting concept.  But makes sense as switching between dual and triple channel is not an adjustable setting AFAIK?

As far as i know there's no setting for that. And reading along forums many people seems to change settings in a "strange" way to swich between channels mode.
