GA-890GPA-UD3H HDMI overscan/scale, how do I set it?

I have tried multiple sets of drivers from the Gigabyte website and drives from the AMD website and cannot get an option to set the scaling options for overscan so I can fill my HDTV.  I am using the onboard video over HDMI.  I know this is a common problem with Radeons but typically I can figure it out after trying another set of drivers.  This time I'm lost.  Anyone else get it to work?

I don't have an answer for you but with something like this it might be best if you asked Gigabyte's Technical Support: http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/ServiceCenter.aspx

It might take several days before you get a response but it might be quicker that waiting for someone to come up with an answer for you.

Nothing immediately springs to mind but if you list all your hardware in detail maybe something will come to light.

I figured it out.  It isn't the TV.  This is a common issue with Radeons and HDTVs.  AMD is making it harder and harder to find the Scaling Options with newer releases of CCC. I have no clue why they are doing this because it is working against their integrated motherboard vision.  I created a little document that I'm going to keep locally so I don't have to struggle so long with this again.  Here is what it takes to solve this problem so everyone else knows how to do it.


Right click on the little display in the lower left corner and select Configure


Check Enable GPU scaling to enable Scaling Options
Then select Scaling Options at the top   




Drag the slider all the way to Overscan.

Thanks.  It's too bad this took me nearly 10 hours to figure out.  AMD is not making me happy with how they want to sell HDMI capable motherboards and they are making it this extremely difficult.

I wonder if AMD are hoping that the driver/tv will automatically scale correctly.

I guess it's possible the driver could/should detect what the TV is and properly set it.  I find this post all over the internet but most people don't know the terminology and you just see them asking why it doesn't fill the screen or why fonts look awful.  I thought HDMI was supposed to solve all of these issues.

What is even more frustrating is they are changing how you find this setting, and I was in Advanced settings and it took me forever to find it.  With all of the other advanced settings, why is this one turned off by default and you have to click on a magic picture to get the options to turn it on?

I'm glad I could help for the community.  I'm sure this will change again with the next release of CCC.

To be honest it's not just AMD who make such changes to their software. It happens with a lot of updated programs and it is amazing how many times you have to figure out where the simple things are in a newer version of a program that you have been using for ages.

Pleased you have sorted out the issue and I am sure it will prove helpful to many.
