EX58-UD5 Sleep Problem

EX58-UD5 Sleep Problem
« on: March 22, 2009, 07:31:17 pm »
I'm having a problem with the computer when it wakes up from sleep mode (S3 suspend) in Windows Vista.

Everything powers on but the screen is black and never turns on. If I do a hard reset, the computer boots normally. Otherwise, it won't properly wake up from sleeping.

Anything I can do to fix this?

Gigabyte EX58-UD5 (F5 bios)
Intel i7 920
6GB G.Skill DDR3 1600
HD4850 512mb

Thanks for the help.

Hi fire2havoc

first try to update all the drivers (intel chipset, ATI vg, etc.) to the newest ones. then tell me which versions you updated into.

then try to do bios upgrade into F6a (http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=BIOS&FileID=14398) or if it does not help then into F6e (http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/28/2024082/ex58ud5.F6e.zip)
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

I just updated to version F6a. Still the same problem, cannot resume from sleep mode. Could it be that I have some settings set incorrectly in BIOS or in Windows Vista that are preventing the computer from resuming properly?

Also, should I enable or disable the HPET (High Precision Event Timer) setting in BIOS Power Management?

if yes then tell me exact versions.

2. in BIOS menu should be set like this : Power Management Setup -> ACPI Suspend Type -> S3(STR)

3. try with different components RAM / VGA / PSU

ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

I have the exact same problem, monitor never comes back after sleep and have to hard reboot. EX58-UD5-F7 bios, XFX 285 videocard, 6 gigs high-end ram, 920 chip. Problem happens with both Vista and W7, all drivers are current. Don't have any extra parts so any help should not involve trying new parts. I bought the best stuff to begin with, and everything else works fine. Thanks in advance for any help that might be given.
