P55A-UD4P 'screech' on waking
« on: May 22, 2010, 12:00:59 am »
My P55A-UD4P motherboard was NOT booting from a USB flash drive, making me a bit unhappy, since my 3.5 year-old Dell boots from them just fine.  So I flashed to the F10 BIOS and, thankfully, it fixed this problem!!

Now, I have a NEW problem.  What seemed to be a screeching noise each time the machine wakes from sleep, upon further investigation, turns out to be the "fan failure" warning alarm.  It turns out that as the machine comes out of sleep, the fan turns on a few seconds later.  So now, the warning beeps for 4 seconds, sounding like a shrill screeching.  Never had this issue with original BIOS version.

If it matters, I'm running a Cooler Master 212 fan in an Antec Sonata 550 case.  Windows 7 x64 RTM with 8 GB RAM.  As of now, I either live with the screech or turn the "fan failure" warning OFF.

Anybody else?  Thoughts?
