Is this a good mobo?

Hi all,
New to Gigabyte and am thinking about pulling the trigger on a GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H AM3 AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD for my backup machine. Any input would be greatly appreciated before I spend the cash. Also where can I find the memory compatibility list  'QVL' for this one?

Hi,

Don't actually have this Mobo but I have been using Gigabyte boards for a long time and never had an issue. So long as the board is offering the things that you require then I would say it's a good board. I'm currently using the GA-790XTA-UD4 and it covers all the bases for me.

Thanks for your reply and information on the memory. I pulled the trigger on this one and have it in front of me as we speak. Using it to replace an ASUS gone bad. The hard drive already has Vista HP x64 on it. Not quite sure how this will play out so I'll just hook everything up and as soon as it boots go to Setup BIOS and time and date, be sure SATA is enabled, save and see if it flies. I know I'll have to deal with the 'Mothership MSN' regarding reactivation as it's a different board and that should be fun.

Thankyou for your input on this, greatly appreciated. I went to GIGABYTE after being an ASUS user for a long long time. They refused an RMA on my board even though their 'warranty' is supposed to be 3 years. My board was only 2, so they lost a customer. I sure like the quality of this board compared side by side to the ASUS, even the IO shield is well made and not flimsy.

see I am split on the whole asus thing, I do like their products, but support was bad when windows7 came out, and some of their boards that were only a year old were not supported, yes there are workarounds but a bios update would have been nice.
Their sister company ASRock on the other hand produces just about the best budget kit out there
as Gigabyte are more mainstream - highend, I have been getting the little N68-C boards that have both DDR2&DD3 onboard along with an AM2+
for about £30 you cant go wrong

but I love my gigabyte boards for gaming rigs , stable, and full of features. On my 3rd Gigabyte board for my main rig.
