Memory settings??? halp GA-890GPA-UD3H
« on: June 13, 2010, 02:06:41 am »
So i now own a ASUS M4A79-T Deluxe paper weight after a botched bios flash.  Picked up a GA-890GPA-UD3H  and I can hit my cpu/htt/NB overclocks i had on my ASUS..but with stock voltages vs heavily overvolted on my asus....which i am very happy about.  But my memory i cant figure out....i have 2x2gb Crucial Ballistix 1333...on my asus I had it at 6-5-6-15-1t 2.0v 1466mhz  for months scoring a 7.8 on windows rating i cant figure it out on the GIGA for the life of me...i cant even hit 1466 at stock settings with stock/overvolts.  I would really really appreciate ANY and all help.  Plz help me unlock the power of my new Gigabyte MB.  Ty in advance for any and all help!

*edit*  i am also having EXTREMELY slow dvd/cd read times...and i have no idea why...i mean 2-5 mins to initialize a cd/dvd.

I can't think of any reason why your memory should run differently in this board as opposed to you older board but board specs do differ. As far as the CD/DVD is concerned can you give us some more info, sata/ide, make and model, etc. Have you checked out the BIOS settings for the drive?

Just for future reference what was the problem with your drive?

Regarding the RAM it may just be the difference in memory controllers within the chipsets. I really wouldn't worry about the Windows Rating as everyone knows it's a load of rubbish. I know that is not what you are really complaining about but some things just don't seem to work as they should always.

Hi,

when tweaking in BIOS M.I.T. did you set the Memory Clock?
If you have left this at auto it will downgrade the memory, you need to make sure this is set to x6.66 for 1333 Mhz.

Hope this helps

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

@ Dark Mantis   I never owned a Gigabyte MB and was a dummy and had the Onboard Sata/IDE control mode set to IDE...not Raid/IDE.

@absic115 I have tryed many settings in the MIT to no avail.  I just set everything to stock for now cause i need to research what all the voltages and Timings mean.   Gigabyte has them name completely different vs my DFI---->ASUS i have owned for 8 years now.
