GA-X58A-UD3R (ver. 2) can't detect full size of 6GB (3x2GB) RAM

I just brought a GA-X58A-UD3r (ver. 2).
During cold boot, it only shows 2GB enabled while I have 6GB (3x2GB) installed.
But when I reboot, it shows all 6GB enabled.
They r in the white slots.
I check one by one to see if the memory is faulty, but they r fine. Ran memtest n prime.
I also check with the XMP enabled and disabled.
Now, when I reboot, sometime the mb doesnt POST.
I have to hold down the power button to turn it off.
Then when I turn back on, sometime it said that it was overvoltage.
But I didnt change any of the voltage setting.

i7 930 @ stock 2.8
Thermaltake Frio Cooler
G.Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ x 3
EVGA 9800 GTX+
Corsair 650W PSU

Your memory is not on the QVL for this motherboard so it is quite possible that it is what is causing your issues.

I am having same issue with same m/b.  Intel i7-930. I am using Corsair DDR3/1600 CMX6GX3M3C1600C7. (Also not on QVL).  I have 6Gb and system sometimes only recognizes 4Gb. This usually happens when system is ice cold and has been off for 24 hours or so.   If I turn the system off and reboot immediately, it usually sees all 6Gb.  Ran Prime95 for hours with no problem.  Stock settings at 2.8GHz.  Like TLCH723, I also saw the overvoltage message once. I am hoping this gets sorted out in a BIOS upgrade....And, hey, these QVLs state that they can't get around to testing all the memory out there; implying that others should work.  And they certainly don't list any memory that failed.  So, is the m/b THAT sensitive??

Have you guys tried setting the ram timings and voltages maually?
Maybe you need to raise your qpi/vtt voltage a little. Try booting with each stick individually and see if all sticks are good. You could just a bad stick?

What was said about the QVL not checking all memory is obviously correct as there is just too much to cover. In some ways I think it would be worthwhile having a list of memory that is known to be incompatible also included in the list.
I haven't checked to see if your memory has an XMP profile but if it is available try setting it to that in the BIOS or as Fatman said set the timings and voltages manually.

Thanks for the repies, guys.  Yes,this Corsair memory is XMP enabled.  I've been running it with XMP enabled at 1600Mhz.
I guess I'll  try giving the voltage a bump.   BTW; A bit surprised about the comment on upgrading the BIOS. From what I see on Gb's website, there is only one (orginal release) BIOS for this REV2 board. It is called "FA"...which is what I have.

Hey I just registered here just to say that I have the same problem as well!

Processor: i7-930
Ram: 6GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9)
Mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R (ver.2)

CPU-Z detects 6gigs, Bios detects 2gigs and some leds on the board light up
When only 1 of the sticks are put in, no leds light up

BTW, BIOS sees all 3 ram slots but only has one 'enabled':

edit: If I put 2 of the tri channel ram in the first 2 slots, it recognises 4gb instead of 2gb. Still not the best result.

Try running the modules one at a time and testing with Memtest86. This will let you know if any of your ram is faulty.

Yeah ram is fine thanks, just found bent pins. I'll have to get it sent off to be replaced =[

The latest BIOS is the one it was shipped with(FA). There has been no updates since this so far.

I just finished my build last night and was going to flash the bios to F5.  My board is REV 2.0 and Bios version FA.  Am I understanding that FA is the latest version?  Not very clear on the GIGABYTE site in downloads for the board.  ANywho... when I did try to flash the BIOS i recieved the "bios ID check error".  If I have the latest version then no worries... but am I to assume that the next bios revision will work when I try to flash it?
