Hi Skorp1on,
thanks for taking time to clarify things for me. Sometimes on these longer threads and, when you come in halfway, it can be a little confusing.

Right, although you shouldn't need the driver from Thermaltake and Windows 7 is not mentioned, it does support Vista 32 & 64. As nothing else seems to be working it might be worthwhile trying to install it (using compatibility mode) just to see if it makes a difference. It shouldn't cause you any problems with your system as it will either install or it won't, so don't worry on that score.
It isn't just when you come in halfway through that it is a problem keeping focussed on the problem. I think you're right about tryiong the Vista drivers. It wouldn't be the first time they have got someone out of a scrape.

absic115, Dark Mantis,
installedd the TT Vista driver, rebooted, change and no-change eSATA to ACHI, ran the "SCAN BUSS" tool that got installed from the TT driver, wait, wait, wait, and still nothing...switched back to IDE mode with eSATA connection.

OK, I'm beginning to scratch my head here as I think, like you, that this thing should just work like USB.
I think the best option, for now, would be to keep using the USB to hot-swap your HDD's and contact Gigabyte Technical Support as we seem to have covered all available options. It might turn out that there is something simple that we are all missing here and the only ones who can tell us are Gigabyte themselves.

Sorry that I can't help further but, if you can get an answer from Tech Support please let us know.

From your link (if you had drunk your morning coffee and read a little further) you would see he is using an asus p6t se.

thanks again.  When I find a small bit of time, I might call Gigabyte Tech. Support to see what they have to say.  Still it seems that implementing eSATA and ACHI requires the user to jump through alot of hoops, kind of like reminding me of the days of having to resolve DMA and IRQ conflicts yourself...
