System bought 5/8/17: Gigabyte Sabre 15, Intel i7-7700HQ, 16GB DDR4-2400, NVidia GTX 1050ti 4GB, SSD 256GB, Win10 Pro.
I bought this to run X-Plane 10 (now 11.10) on 4 monitors: the laptop monitor(1920x1080) displays the instrument panel, with three external monitors (1280x1024) arranged in a row above the laptop to display the view out the windshield and side windows.
Despite careful optimization of the simulator's monitor usage and fairly low rendering settings, frame rates in the mid-teens are all I can achieve with this monitor configuration. With no external monitors, frame rates in the 40s are achieved.
Windows Task Manager shows both the NVidia and onboard Intel 630 graphics to be working, but at low utilization rates: at this moment I'm looking at frame rates of 15 while NVidia card shows a utilization rate of 36% and dedicated memory usage of 1.7 of its 4.0GB, and the Intel 630 shows utilization of 24% and shared memory usage of 0.3 of its 7.9 GB. Neither RAM nor CPU utilization ever rise above about 45%.
What can be done to make the Sabre really fly?
