Ram, cpu voltage issues Auros B450
« on: August 10, 2019, 11:15:40 am »
Having an issue with the use of 3 ram sticks, I've been using 3 ram sticks of KLLSRE 8gb 2666mhz but with voltage of cpu spiking up and down from 1.3 to 1.4 on windows and amd balanced power plan, but I've removed one ram stick to 16gb slot 2 & 4 and voltages of cpu have drop to 0.98 with no noticeable issues in performance.

Temps of cpu are down to 26c in idle but was in the 50's with 3 ram sticks.

Is this a bios issue or other? Using Bios F42a

Welcome to the forums.

You need BIOS F40 or above to run Ryzen 5 3600 CPU

I assume you followed all prerequisites to upgrade to F40 or above?

I don't normally recommend flashing beta BIOS unless absolutely necessary or to fix, address a specific problem.

Me personally.  I would have stuck with F40, or F41 only if I was having m.2 compatibility issues.  Beta BIOS' can be like gambling.  Might work great, or might not.

Also don't see a memory QVL for your CPU "Matisse".  Only Pinnacle, Raven or Summit.

KILLISRE isn't on the QVL I saw, so no guarantees of compatibility, performance, etc.

Board is designed for dual channel, not tri-channel with the following memory specs: Support for DDR4 3200(O.C.)/2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules

Knowing this, I'd stick with 2 DIMMs, or 4 of a matched set, that is on the QVL or at the very least rated for what the board calls for.
