Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master XMP profile BSOD

Hi All,

I was wondering if you could help me in diagnose a problem I am having with my new build. I am experiencing BSOD's on a regular basis with the memory's XMP profile enabled.

Some of the Stop Codes I am getting are:

• System Service Exception
• KMOD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
• CRITICAL STRUCTURE CORRUPTION

The timing of the memory is in spec with the documentation on the Corsair website, link below

It is worth noting that the even though the part number is the same the DRAM manufacturer (Hynix and Samsung) is different on each 2x 8GB pair. I have tried multiple configurations of the memory such as the list below but I continue to get BSOD's when the XMP is enabled.

• 1x 8GB Samsung(Slots 1) both DIMMS
• 1x 8GB Hynix(Slots 1)both DIMMS
• 1x 8GB Samsung(Slots 2)
• 1x 8GB Hynix(Slots 2)
• 2x 8GB Samsung(Slots 2/4)
• 2x 8GB Hynix(Slots 2/4)
• 4 x8GB Samsung (Slots 2/4) + Hynix (Slots 1/3) and the other way around

I'm just about to pull out the rest of my hair as my memory is stuck at 2133Mhz in order to keep the system stable. Anyone have any suggestion on a resolution?

System Spec
Motherboard - Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master (Bios F6)
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU - Nvidia RTX 2070 Super
Memory - 4x Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 8 GB
Storage 1 - Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB M.2 NVMe
Storage 2 - Intel 660p 1TB M.2-2280 NVMe
PSU - Corsair AX1000
Latest AMD chipset drivers installed

I give you my thoughts:

1) Provided you are all on bios defaults/auto hence no oc at all even GPU - errors?
2) Max temperature CPU in range?
3) Max temperature GPU?
4) Use just 2 ram slots
5) Use 21xx ram speed - more stable?

My system took 2 weeks until 3200 ram became stable and this with HyperX 3200 Predator - until then step down/ reduce speed.

Once you found a stable setting - use that for a week.. then slowly step up

This may sound like a broken record..  but is this RAM on the QVL for the board?

Even so, knowing that this is not a matched set of 4 DIMMs could be a problem.  (Mixing memory chips)

We all hope that using non-QVL RAM which shares the correct SPECS for our boards will work, but sometimes for (a multitude) of unknown reasons they won't.  JDEC spec might not be correct for XMP profile is one of the many possibilities.  Using high quality RAM helps, and I also like corsair RAM.  This is the first time I went with G-Skill.

Sometimes a BIOS updates helps.  Of course you should test the RAM as well as faulty RAM sometimes works too, until the area that has a problem is accessed.  Not saying its faulty, but didn't see mention of testing in your post.

If the RAM is not QVL, using manual settings can also work.  AgentFXA is a expert in his own right.  His recommendations are always spot on.

After quickly playing around with the memory profiles I managed to get the system stable with the memory at 3133Mhz. Going to play around with the latency settings but it's a big step forward.

I have had the same issue with a 64GB Kit from Corsair. The solution I found is to manually set the Optimal Frequency (3200Mhz) set the Voltage manually to 1.35 or 1.37 and leave the rest on auto. It picks out some really weird timings (normal timings from Corsair are 16 18 18 36 but with this setup I told you the timings detected are 22 22 22 53).
XMP will not work and end up in a boot loop.

I have seen this before and if you got it stable I would leave well enough alone. Some memory is just that way you have to under clock them just a little.
