Plug came loose

Well guys... feel free to call me all the idiots going but I’m in need of some help.

This is my first proper build and I’m using and AMD octo core processor with the UD3 but it was running fine and so I went down the road while it was updating and unknown to me until I came back... while I was out the plug for the PC had come loose causing the image to stay frozen on the screen but the unit to be non responsive. I turned to PC off to let the screen image clear but now I can’t get it to turn back on... has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this/what has gone wrong?

I'm not completely clear what your issue is?

It sounds like the system lost power during a software or OS update, but I'm not sure.

If the system starts and you can enter BIOS, I'd check its settings to ensure correct settings and boot order.

If the system powers on, but your OS does not load, this is not a hardware issue and goes beyond the scope of the forum.  I suggest using whatever OS recovery media you have and try to troubleshoot or repair the issue. 

We cannot do anything more than speculate what the issue is.  We were not there and neither were you it seems.  So start with making the power connection to your rig stable and secure.  If you don't have a UPS, consider one. 

Check the BIOS and confirm what you can, this should help you determine the priblem and what to do next.

Sorry about that.... guess I should have been a little clearer.

I was installing a program to download music onto my PC but in order to do so I had to install Microsoft framework.

It seemed to be taking a little while so I went around the shop in order to give it chance... I returned to find that the plug for my rig had partially come out of the socket for the extension cable while installing as far as I can assume.

The image from while the program was installing was still on the screen so I pushed the plug back into the socket assuming all was okay but even after doing that the image was frozen.

I turned the rig off hoping to restart the process but since then have been unable to get the rig to start or even power on

You'll need to create installation media to recover or repair your system.

Sorry... I am a complete newcomer at this so this is probably an amateur question with an obvious answer but my PC won’t even power up so how would I install the recovery media when it’s a dead unit (at the moment)?

So the PC will not power on and shows no signs of activity whatsoever?  No LED's, fan movement, nothing?

I didn't realize that.  I though after you unplugged it that it started, but failed to boot. 

If that's the case, it seems like something else might have happened while you were away.

Try removing power to the motherboard and removing the CMOS battery.  Press and hold the power button the case for 30 sec.  Now reinstall the battery and reconnect power.  See if it will start.

If not, leave power connected and short the CLR_CMOS pins 10-15 sec.  Some boards have a button....  if this doesn't help, you will need to bench test.  You will need to test the PSU first.  If you have a spare, use it to test power. 

Start removing any installed add on cards, etc.  Continue testing.  If you don't have these components to test with you may need to take the system to a repair shop for validation.

Okay..... random thing.

Before I got chance to remove the CMOS I tried powering up the unit and it started.

It booted up okay... ran for a few minutes.... literally all I was doing was using CCleaner to removed some junk files and the same thing happened.

Halfway through the process it stopped... the screen froze and it became unresponsive. I turned it off using the power button on the case and am now having the same issue of it not powering up at all...

Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to stop this reoccurring?

Any help or suggestions would be majorly appreciated

CC Cleaner is not foolproof and might improperly identify or remove something the system needs to run.

I can't imagine it would keep the system from starting, but stranger things have happened. 

I suggest you discontinue its use.  Even uninstall it if possible.

~Perform the steps I indicated and see if you can get the system running again.  If so, let it boot and don't touch it.  See if it runs without dying or shutting off.  If it does die, note how log it ran (start again) and see if it exhibits the same behavior a second time.

Okay...

So I tried powering up the PC but had no reaction whatsoever.

Went downstairs for the majority of the day to find that my PC had started up by itself (whether due to a slow reaction from my attempt or not I don’t know) but where it had been left so long unknown to me had frozen like before with no response from keyboard or mouse.

So I turned it off again and the same thing happened... no response when I tried restarting the unit until later on...

Any ideas at all would be an immense help.

Same recommendation.  You need to determine the status/health of your components.  Is the PSU good, etc.  Move forward from there.
