GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 - Sound Blaster Recon3Di Control Panel
« on: February 20, 2021, 01:28:32 am »
Recently, the Sound Blaster Recon3Di Control Panel stopped making the switch between speaker and headphones when I plug them in. In order to change the sound from one to another, I actually have to go in the software and make the change manually in the Speakers / Headphones section. It gets very annoying when you have to do this multiple times a day...

I reinstalled the software and it makes no difference.

Is anyone else facing the same problem?

Greetings,
I haven't looked at this software for a very log time.  When did it work last, and what's changed?

Does this apply to rear inputs, front case inputs or both?

Does the application offer port sense?  If so, ensure this is active.

Other things to try.  Install an older copy of the software if available (as a test).  Using an older copy will not hurt anything, sound isn't going to be any different.  You should also open a ticket with support if not already done.

Be sure to choose the correct rev 1.0, 1.1 of your board before download:

Thank you for your reply.

It worked in December, I was away for about 1-2 months and now it stopped working.

The only thing that has changed maybe it was some Windows update?

The problem applies to both inputs, rear and front.

I am not sure what port sense is, but I have looked at all the settings and there is nothing else to try.

I do not have an older copy of the software, just the one provided on Gigabyte website for rev. 1.0 of my motherboard.

I already opened a ticket with support and waiting for a reply.

Yes, but I cannot tell the difference between them apart from the numbers provided. Which one would be the oldest one? Usually I can tell by the version number. I suppose that you can only use the date as reference, eg. 2‎017/01/04 or I am missing something.

Anyway, I installed both of them and the version of Sound Blaster Recon3Di Control Panel is exactly the same, 2.17.13.

The driver version seems to be 10.0.19041.1 and does not related to any of those 2 versions.

I am a little bit confused.

Greetings,
So was there any different in behavior, one vs. the other after installing the one with the earlier date?

No, absolutely no difference.

Gigabyte Support also asked me twice to uninstall and what version of Windows I have, but nothing makes a difference.

No, absolutely no difference.

Gigabyte Support also asked me twice to uninstall and what version of Windows I have, but nothing makes a difference.

So next thing to do:

What windows 10 build are you running?

Use macrium reflect, Acronis, cloze zilla or windows back up and create a full disk image of your OS.

Now reinstall windows.  If you have another version of the build you are running now, even better.

Install the Recon3Di software and test.

eSupport is likely testing the software now, it might speed things up if you doing some of your own testing.

Regardless of the results, you can revert to your existing install.  Note, if you have any data disks attached, I'd disconnect them during reinstall and testing.
