Gigabyte X470 AORUS GAMING 7 wifi bios update
« on: July 20, 2022, 07:56:43 am »
Hello.

I would like to ask few q before i start to update my mb bios I have never upg bios before.

#1 https://www.gigabyte.pl/products/page/mb/x470_aorus_gaming_7_wifirev_10#support-dl

I will dl bios from here

#2 My current setup is :

Gigabyte X470 AORUS GAMING 7 wifi BIOS version F2

CPU : Ruzen 2700x

Questions :

#1 If im on Bios version F2 can i just to F40 ? or do i need upg F3->F4g-> ...->F40 ?

#2 In Bios version F7/F30/F40/ there is a note : Update AMD Chipset Driver 18.10.20.02 or latest version before updating to this BIOS.
This is soft that is instaled on my drives ... What if i want to do full system format before i put new cpu ... it may be any problems ?

#3 I would like to upg my Bios now ( i thinking to swap for 5700x/5800x). Atm i have 2700x ... There will be no problem with run let say F60 or better with that cpu (2700x)?

My thinking process to upg bios :

F2->F31 -> F40 ( instal EC FW Update Tool befoer update)

and now can i jump toF50 or do i need F42e and F41 1st

Pendrive Format :  fat32 or ntfs for q-flash ?

Ty for info, helps and advice

Greetings,
I would recommend avoiding any BIOS with letters.  They are beta.  Unless one specifically adds needed support, other enhancement or a security fix (you require).

USB stick, fat32, BIOS file in root directory.  Only use qflash.  You can update directly within the BIOS.  You can make a back up as well.  Do not use @BIOS.

You can go from F2 > directly to a higher revision, as long as all prerequisites for the newer BIOS exist.  BIOS updates are cumulative, so each newer release contains all of the previous enhancements, updates, changes, etc., but again be sure you have any prerequisites met.  (minimum version) and so forth.

Final note.  Your CPU is supported with F2.  Are you having issues?  Is there something you don't have or need that a newer BIOS is offering?  If your system is stable, there probably isn't a need to upgrade.  Just be mindful of this.

I would like to upg my current pc setup ( it is 4 yo now)

I want upg bioss so i could swap 2700x to 5700x or 5800x and my mb dont support those cpu w/o bios update.  And i only wanted to know if there will be no problem with running new version of bios with 2700x till i swap it to new cpu .

Understood.  That is a compelling reason to upgrade then.  You will need F60 or F62 for the new CPU (5700X 5800X).  Do your research and ensure no adverse behavior was reported for the intended release.  Your CPU / memory combination, etc.  Ensure you follow the recommended upgrade path.  F2 > (upgrade chipset driver 18.50.16.01 or later) > F31 >(perform prereqs EC FW Update Tool (B19.0517.1 or later version) > F40 >
