GA-890FXA-UD5 Raid 0 Performance

Here is my situation. I have two Seagate 3.0 1 Terrabyte Drives in a Raid 0 and seeing slow performance. I have Windows 7 X64 installed. The time I see the slow performance was when I install programs like Office 2007 and other programs. I notice during the install in My Computer the hard drive reports 0 free space during the install and then shoots back up to over 1.8 terabytes of free space. I figured it was because of the temp space that the install programs were using so I moved the temp space in Windows 7 to another drive. The same situation happen. I am not sure if this is a problem with Windows 7 limitations. I have looked every where for a solution. The drives are in the first two blue sata ports which I believe are the AMD Raid.

I haven't checked to see but if you have the option try swithing over to some other ports that also support RAID.

I have two seagate internal 500 gig so a terrabyte together in mine. Same ports and running Raid0 and dont have that problem running windows 7 64 bit. Tell me how or what program u are using to see if hard drive is full and i can install something and let you know what mine does.

Okay I moved the seagate 1 tb drives over to the gigabyte raid in port 6 and 7 and the same thing. Windows 7 X64 is up to date. It happens when I install Office 2007 or Windows Updates. It seems to happen with programs that use windows installer. The entire raid will show 0 space left and after install is done it will go back to normal amount of space. I submit a ticket to gigabyte as well. I have the updated drivers for all devices. The specs are I have 16 GB of ram G.Skill DDR 3 1333 and AMD Phenom II X4 955. Crossfire with Sapphire 4850 Video Cards.

Try this take out all ram until u only have 4 gigs or less left then try it and report back that processor has known issues with anything over 4 gigs or two slots filled

What BIOS version are you using?

F4 Bios Version. Nope memory made no difference. I still have not heard from Giagbyte either. I installed Windows 2008 R2 on it last night and that helped but I want Windows 7

So they were the problem then? Was it just in the RAID configuration or were they faulty anyway?

That's funny because the Ausies swear by them. If you go onto the Whirlpool Forum you will find everybody recommending them.

really weird i have 2 seagate 500 gigs in raid 0 and have been using them from vista64 bit beta to now with windows 7 ulitmate limited edition and never had a problem. I have had 1 dead seagate and 2 dead WD in the last 8 years otherwise i guess im lucky with htem.

Well I will try another OS. It might be Windows 7. So another problem with the board how do I controll the speed of the CPU fan. This board has the stock fan running at 5000 rpm or more.
