I can feel your frustration from here >:(  Are you still talking to your family or has the sidearm been out again!
As you say sometimes it is better to just start again and at least know where you are. Good luck and if you need any more help we are still here.

okay re-formatted my HDD, reinstalled windows. started installing some updates then restarted.
windows couldnt configure the updates so it rebooted twice.
now windows wont even get to the desktop. it goes to the automated fixes and recovery tools...
tried chkdsk /r for both partitions (c:\ - sys and d:\ - misc).
goddamn this s***.

Do you have both graphics cards still installed? If so try taking one out (the bottom one) and then see if your system is more stable.

This is getting stupid now! All I can think is to start from scratch(again) and try building it up outside the box. One step at a time. Assuming that you can cope with more rebuilding. :-\

Go get another SATA HDD and be sure to have it in a blue SATA port.

Your description is a little bit garbled(but we will forgive that after all the pressure you're under ;))
Do you mean that the chkdsk carried on but the monitor shut down?

Ok I installed win 7 (x64) like 10 times and all have the same problem:
computer works fine for a while, then it freezes for about 10 sec and come back to live - repeated every once in a while.
looked at event viewer and there was an Event ID 55 something related to ntfs multiple.
OFC I ran chkdsk /r with no help. no problems are found.
when Installing updates windows isn't able to boot at all and I have to re-install windows.
I've googled it but the best answer I could find is related to power-management options. nothing more than that.
I believe its a software-related problem as I've tested my RAM and my HDD is new...

Well that would go along with what I was going to suggest next. Go into the BIOS and disable all power saving settings, C1E, C3,5 etc and EIST.
