Poor Memory Performance - GA-P55-USB3 - F12
« on: September 07, 2010, 10:06:50 pm »
Using Kingston Hyper X 2x2GB DDR3 - (2000htz) mfr- KHX2000C9AD3T1K

MB - GA-P55-USB3 Bios - F12

Really surprised and dissapointed with the performance of this memory (5.1 Windows experience) rest of machine is 7.1 -7.5.

Neither component was cheap and i am stumped at what i am missing ?! Flashed the Bios to F12.....what's next??

Thanks in advance :)

Its likely your RAM is running at 1333MHz as you got RAM that is XMP go into the BIOS > MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.) > Advanced Frequency Settings > and set “Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.)” to “Profile1” F10 to save and try that.

Yes I think that is your problem. The memory is still running at it's default setting of 1333.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advise - it worked.

Memory Rating is now showing 6.7 - a distinct improvement   ;D ;D ;D

thanks again

Hi All,

Following from our previous successful thread.....i wondered if the BIOS settings could affect/restrict the way the graphics card performs?

BIOS settings are a whole NEW world to me now!

Thanks in advance  :)

Dave

Ah! the BIOS, plenty to learn about there. Can you be a bit more specific about what you want regarding the graphics?

well, I wondered if i could squeeze more performance out of my graphics card, the pc components are all brand new, i bought it all as seperates parts and like the memory i was a little surprised that the graphics card is not higher rated.
But now, i am thinking that the BIOS settings are restricting it - i noticed it has a speed rating (mhz) like the memory.......

Apart from deciding which display/graphics card to boot from there is not much in the main BIOS to play around with concerning the GPU. Graphics cards have their own BIOS(firmware) and that is what you need to manipulate to tweak any extra performance out of it. They usually come with a utility nowadays that allows you to adjust the settings.

hey guys, im wondering about something maybe u could help, ive been reading this thread

but frist my specs are P55-USB3 rev1 / Kingston KHX1600C9D3B1K2/4GX / core i5 2.8ghz / HD 5550 /  WD caviar black

1st question. maker of this tread said he had bios F12 but i can only find F8 on either rev1 and 2 and its the same motherboard

2nd question, im currently running 1333 default mode and its fine and im getting 7.5 in windows experience index and he had 6.7 with 1600?

3th question, previous statet im running at 1333 default but can i enable XMP and get 1600 and get better performance? ( dont want to kill something ) or get constant BSoD with the previous OCZ ram i had.

Hi denny and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I will answer your questions in hte order you asked them.

1) Mix up to start with, he had a different board

2) Forget WEI as it's so fallible that it is not worth using.

3) If your memory has a XMP available then use it. It is designed to run at that speed or the XMP wouldn't be associated with it.
