GA-X58A-UD3R problems

GA-X58A-UD3R problems
« on: September 11, 2010, 02:05:13 am »
I just built my new pc, but when I went to boot it up.... nothing.

I know the problem is with the motherboard because the psu works in another computer.
I have been able to power up the computer about 5 times by wiggling the 24pin connector around.  The mobo will sometimes power up when the connector is half way in, but never if I have it pressed in all the way.  The few times I was able to get the computer running everything seemed fine.. all case fans were running, cpu fan was running, and the gfx card fan was also running,  but I could not get any signal to my monitor.

I'm out of ideas and would appreciate any help.  Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
This is going to actually be one of those hard ones to determine the problem at a distance. It seems straightforward enough but without being able to touch the board myself is going to be more tricky.
Obviously it seems that there is some sort of loose connection, possibly on the motherboard. You are going to have to remove the motherboard from the case and start building it up on the bench. Make sure thsat you observe anti static precautions and place the motherboard on some cardboard or similar material. Connect up just the PSU, motherboard,CPU/heatsink/fan, RAM, buzzer. Try and boot. Obviouslly it will fail but post what beep code you get.

Are you 100% Sure you do not have ANY bent CPU socket pins?   If you are not sure please check, and post us images if you can;t be 100% Sure.

You are plugging in the 8 Pin EPS 12V CPU cable correct?  Sorry, have to ask  ;D

Also be sure you have the graphics card power cables connected if the card requires them, and you may need to test your monitor on another system to be sure the screen source selection is set correctly, IE set to DVI/VGA or HDMI and then be sure how it's set matches how you are connecting it.

Is this a new GFX card?   If so you may want to also test it on another system to be sure it is not faulty.

It might be a faulty case switch you have their...take out the switch and use a screwdriver on the two pins.
