i5 downclocking to 1.9Ghz? h55m ud2h

Hi there everyone,

So I recently put together my i5 760 rig and it's looking good for the most part (h55m ud2h). However I just downloaded cpu id before I delved into overclocking and i've noticed that the cpu frequency is around 1.2Ghz, Vcore 0.896V. I got SuperPi going and it ramped up to about 3.2ghz.

I've upgraded from a Pentium 4 so have been a bit out of touch with the latest lol. I know about this Turbo Boost tech they've got on the chips, but what about it lingering at 1.2Ghz? Is it supposed to be an energy saving measure and is there a way to turn it off? Is it perhaps something to do with the bios?
I thought TBoost took the cpu from 2.8ghz and upwards, never downwards! I was just wondering as to how this is going to affect oc'ing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Mark.

Yes it is perfectly normal. The power saving modes like C1E, C3,etc and EIST all have an effect on it and if you want to you can disable them in the BIOS. It's saving the planet don't you know  ;)

Haha of course, that's great but I would have thought it would revert to 2.8ghz the moment anything was asked of it. As it happens I can be installing stuff/multitasking and it stays at low frequency when a bit of oomph is required. Might have a tinker in the Bios.
Thanks for your help!

Yes as far as I understand it that is what should happen. The frequency drops when quiescent and then picks up as necessary.
