Guys,
Not sure what is going on here but ive just replaced my old Toshiba ribbon IDE DVD ROM drive with a Samsung SATA DVD ROM drive on my Gigabyte MA790FX-DS5 rev 1.0 motherboard. Im running a raid 0 system with 2 x 150GB Western Digital Raptors. I pulled out my old toshiba drive and put in the new SATA drive and plugged it onto a spare SATA socket on the motherboard. When i insert any media in the drive it goes to read the disc but then crashes with the error message of "DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" and then promptly re-boots itself. The strange thing is as soon as it boots up again with the disc still in the drive and i go to explore it there isnt a problem, i can view all the files and folders on the disc etc. no problems at all. This is until i take out that disc and pop in another and it starts all over again. It goes to read the disc and crashes. Any ideas guys ? Im guessing it has to be something to do with the SATA drive setup ??
Any help appreciated
Cheers guys
