UD7 and 24GB RAM

UD7 and 24GB RAM
« on: September 21, 2010, 03:30:19 pm »
Hi guys,

I was trying to find out if GA-X58A-UD7 will be fine with 24GB of memory from Kingston. I'm talking about this one click. I know that GSkill memory is fine with this mobo, but they are too tall and i don't wanna replace my Noctua D14 yet.
I did try to send an email to support, but still no feedback.
Can anyone has experience with those memory sticks?

Thanks in advance.

I would advise you to check the websites of both Gigabyte and Kingston for their QVLs and make sure that they are listed as compatible.
If it's any help I know that the Corsair Dominators will fit under the Noctua but you will have to remove the tops(additional) on a couple of sticks.

You can always offset the first fan so the mem can fit under like in these pics.....

Thermalthake full tower, ABS 1300W, Gigabute UD-9, i7 980X @ 4677.4GHz, Super Talent 2000MHz 7-7-7-20, NH-D14, OCz Drive R2 M84 256GB PCI-e Express for games, Crucial real SSD C300  Sata III 128GB for OS, 3 x 150GB Raptor + 1 x 300GB Raptor, Zotac GTX 480 AMP!, BFG GTX 285 OCFU for PhysX

Hi there,

I know i can put the first fun little bit higher. Still don't know why people from gskill told me that D14 will ain't work.

From Kingston website when You select motherboard and memory, You'll getting:
KHX1333C7D3/1G     1GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM     $35     BUY NOW
KHX1333C7D3/2G    2GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM    $63    BUY NOW
KHX1333C7D3K2/2G    2GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM (Kit of 2)    $69    BUY NOW
KHX1333C7D3K2/4G    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM (Kit of 2)    $125    BUY NOW
KHX1600C9AD3/1G    1GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM    $32    BUY NOW
KHX1600C9AD3/2G    2GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM    $57    BUY NOW
KHX1600C9AD3K2/2G    2GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 2)    $63    BUY NOW
KHX1600C9AD3K2/4G    4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 2)

And there additional note:
Virtually any configuration up to 24GB can be reached using any combination of Kingston's 1, 2 and 4GB modules or kits.

I still wanna be 1000% sure if i have to spend 1k$ for this.

@alainneedle1
I see those pics are with 3 mem sticks. What about when You put a stick on a first mem slot?

Hello again,

I found on the Gigabyte webiste http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x58a-ud7_v2.0.pdf where i see
KET16D1 4GB Kingston KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX DS v 6PCS

So, this meaning that khx1600c9d3k6/24gx will work, 'cause these r the same sticks, right?

Thanx.

Yes that is how I would read it too. As far as the photo goes there shouldn't be any problem with using the first slot either.

If these are your rams...  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104170  they will fit without problems at all cause they don't have any Heat Spreader ....mine do as you can see in the pics I've poated above.....

Hi alainneedle1,
First i was thinking to buy GSkill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231383
but lads on the forum told me, that they will not work with D14. That's why i was asking for Kingston, 'cause i see that they r smaller.

Thank guys.

There is no reason for you not to use the GSkill ram that you origianlly wanted but you probably won't be able to fit the cooling fan assembly as well.
