770ta-ud3 F3 COLD BOOT issue?
« on: September 22, 2010, 02:52:02 pm »
Every day morning, fisrt boot will be a BSOD after aroung 10-20mins, and reboot, then everything is fine until next day first boot.

Is this problem of MB, or other parts?

MEMORY: [ Ripjaws] F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM (2Gx2)

More likely to be the memory. Try running Memtest86+ on your modules , one at a time and for several loops and see itf it brings up any failures.

More information:
If i reboot before BSOD happens, BSOD will still happens, so everything only will be nice after BSOD happened once.

Hi there,

As a matter of interest.....
What BIOS version are you running?
Are you running your Hard drives in Native IDE or AHCI?
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

I have MSE before, and last night I reinstall the windows 7 again, format the disk, and intsall nothing on it, no patch, a very very clean system, then shut down.

And this morning, first boot, BSOD.

I have been playing with the GA-770TA-UD3 and not come across this problem however, I'm not running it all the time so I could just be lucky. Also I have different RAM and CPU and that could make a difference.

I would suggest that you try flashing your BIOS with the latest F4B. Although it is a beta BIOS it does say that it addresses C1E and LAN Compatibility issues. As always, info regarding BIOS updates is a bit sparse so it might correct something else that could be causing these BSOD's

You can download the latest BIOS from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3272&dl=1#bios

Thanks, but I think this will be the last thing to do, I will do some changes on memory settings I just found on gskill first once I return home.

I repleaced the memory with my old ones(2X2BG) which is GSKILL f3-10600CL9S-2GBNT, no BSOD for 2 hours from cold boot, I think it solved the problem.

So, does this mean F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM has compatibility issue with 770ta-ud3? or just the ram has problem?

That's actually a hard question to answer.

I would think that the problem is due to the memory rather than the motherboard but, as the Memory Controller is actually on the CPU the problem could just be due to the BIOS, hence my earlier suggestion to update to the F4b version to see if that gets your Ripjaws RAM to run properly.

If you ran the Memtest program correctly it must just be a compatibility problem with the RAM/Motherboard/CPU
