GA-H55M-UD2H: Cant boot without gfx card (have i3 530)

Hello,

I get video out of the motherboards VGA out port, but a gfx card have to be installed in the pci express slot (?!)

Isn't the purpose of the i3 530 that it has integrated gfx?

When I remove the gfx card in off mode and then boot the computer it just blinks.

I only get video from the onboard VGA out if I have the BIOS setting set to onboard but as soon as I boot without the gfx card it wont start.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The motherboard has the capacity for onboard graphics but they must be supported by the CPU. Not all of the CPUs that fit the board support graphics. That is probably why your board goes dead when you remove the graphics card from the PCIE slot. I must admit I did think the 530 came with graphic support.

I have just checked and the i3 530 does come with graphics so that is not the problem. Are you sure that you have enabled it in the BIOS as first GPU?

I consulted the manual and concluded that the only setting for graphics is in the Advanced BIOS features, I tried to change the Init Display first to "Onboard" and Onboard VGA to "Always enable" this makes another setting appear, the On-Chip Frame Buffer Size with three settings for buffer size, I have tried them all with no success. Am I in the right area at all?

What you have done is correct in enabling the onboard VGA and making it first to display. What connection are you using from the motherboard to the monitor?

Im usin the onboard vga out (analog). But if I have the wrong connection shouldn't the motherboard stop flashing the LED's? When I use the gfx card the lights don't flash like that.

Yes that is possible. I was hoping not to go through that trouble (bad past experiences), but I guess that is the next step perhaps.

I tried once more without keeping the DMI. But without luck.

Edit: there was no option to clear just to keep or not.
