The end of BIOS?
« on: October 01, 2010, 01:20:44 pm »
It's Friday so another interesting article has appeared on the BBC website regarding BIOS and it's replacement UEFI. Not sure where Gigabyte or other motherboard manufacturers stand on this but long BOOT times could soon be a thing of teh past, yippee!

Another very interesting article absic. I knew it was coming at some point but didn't realise it was that close. Let's just hope it is easier than the BIOS to manage.

Yes, there are a few motherboards already that have this feature and from what I can find out MSI are talking about making it standard on all boards. I know it is a feature of some Intel boards but haven't come across it on the AMD platform yet.

Worth keeping an eye on though and it will be interesting to see how it impacts on overall system performance too.

As with all new updates it will cure some problems and bring others I am sure. Just something new to get to grips with and iron out the creases. ;)
