Problems with SLI

Hi there, on avance maybe my english is not that good, i'll try to make my self clear.

The problems i have are the black screens, the crashes with no BSOD, in game also freezes/sound loops and consecuently hard resets.

It might be a problem with how drivers,devices, buses and irq's are assigned.

This are my system hardware specs:

MP: GA-X58A-UD5 REV 2.0
CPU: I7-950
RAM: 2GBX3 DOMINATOR GT 1600 triple channel
GPU'S: GIGABYTE N460GTX-1GB OC  x 2 SLI
PSU: Thermaltake thought POwer 650W

So i have to know if there is a way to fix all this expensive mess.
Seems w7 detects the 2x1 sound chips inside the crads, assign them generic drivers then when installing drivers and then they get same buses with other devices like MB realtek soun device, it also happens with my HID devices.

Again is ther any way out of this hole from fresh install. My question is aswell those .inf files that came with mobo cd drivers will fix this? if so when is the right time to install them,with w7 before updating anything?with the gpus unplugged?
Is there a chance that phisycal oreder in gpu's instalation will make something? like fo ex: better no to install w7 with the gpus pluged,then instal the inf files, the update w7,then plug cards,then install gpu drivers?

PLease throw some light and help here.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum. Don't worry about your English, it is very good.

First off the PSU (power supply unit) is far too small to be running the setup you have. The only reason it is still functioning is that you have a good quality PSU there. Try removing one GPU and see if you still get the same problems. I would estimate that you need a 850W minimum single 12v rail replacement

650W is on the low end for powering such a strong setup.

I would test the system with only 1 card in at a time, but stress both cards to ensure that both are stable separately. If both work fine then the PSU is the likely culprit. I suspect this could be the case seeing as you never experience BSoD, just black screens so it doesn't seem to be driver related.

Before you do this I would remove all traces of old drivers with software such as DriverCleaner PRO (May be a cheap one out there) or manually and reinstall the latest ones.

I am running a 950 @3.8 (1.31), with 12 GB memory filling all 6 slots (1600, 1.65), 2xZotac GTX460 AMP! versions (810/2000, factory), 2 1TB WD Black in RAID 0, and running 3DMark(03-06) my UPS indicates the max draw is 475.  But then again I have a 1000 watt PSU with a single 80a rail.

A bigger PSU can't hurt? 
Look for a large single rail, or make sure if it has multiple rails it has the auto-internal ability to combine rails.

I am in total agreement there. Too many people try to run with a PSU that is just powerful enough and wonder why they have problems down the line as it degrades. Not only that but most PSUs are at their optimum output/performance at around 50-60% total.

still with problems here with just one pluged, i missed out its a 750 psu, there has been many people with problems call it compatibility issues, strange things, black screen, hard locks even with 1000 watts +.

i don´t know if there's a solution over there in gigabyte, it seem like someking of bug or bad drivers and conflicts with certain mobos due to energy profiles or what ever, some people raised the pciex freq, my pc its been by now to many technicians, so if someone here does aknowledge my proble it would be great any kind of help.

Anyone else with the same set of mobo + gpus as me?

One thing that would be worth trying is to disable the power savings options in the BIOS like C1E etc.

Other than that it is probably just down to bad drivers. There have been a lot of issues recently with the nVidia drivers.

Is it so that if PSU is of good quality then its functioning goes normal?

I am not sure that I understand your question but if you are asking if it will not happen with a good quality PSU then the chances are that it wouldn't but it might not be that straightroward as there could be other factors involved.
