Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I don't want to be the harbinger of bad news but I hope you are sat down :-\  You could really have done a bit more research before buying all that lovely hardware. Just getting the top components doesn't always guarantee that they will work as specified.

Firstly the memory. Anything above 1600Mhz is totally wasted if you are not overclocking heavilly and yours we would need to be talking about 4Ghz+ to get the real benefit. I would just suggest running it at 1600 and maybe trying to tighten the timings a little.

Secondly the SATA3 6Gbs SSD. It will be quick but there is no point running it on the Marvell 9128 controller ports even though they are supposed to be capable of 6Gbs. The chip just doesn't live up to expectations (Marvell problem not Gigabyte) and will fall over if you try to push too much data through at high speed. Another downside to the Marvell ports is that the chip doesn't pass TRIM commands which are necessary for the health of the SSD.

In short use the Intel ICH10R southbridge ports even though they are only SATA2 they will actually work faster and pass the TRIM commands.

Hope this has helped a little.

Thank you very much for your info.

So i would be better off sending the memory back for DDR3 running at 1600. (not down clocking)

Myabe the ICH10R southbridge would make the computer boot better?

(computer does not always boot ssd)

Thanks again, will keep this forum posted for other poor users in the same boat!

Yes if you can swap the memory for some 1600Mhz that should save you some cash, although make sure that it is on at least one of the QVLs either Gigabyte's or the memory manufacturer's. If you stick to the Corsair Dominators they do a nice kit that I am using now that are rock solid the TR3X3G1600C8D.

Yes it may well help to make booting more stable if you move the SSD to SATA2_0 as an ideal port. You can then decide whether to set it up in IDE or AHCI mode. Both will transfer the TRIM commands.

Keep in touch ;)

To confirm Sir Dark Mantis!

YES!  My older memory works fine on xmp (TR3X6G1600C9)

Yes! My C300 SSD does work better on Intel ICH10R southbridge! (Write speed)

Thanks Again

Great Help!
