GA-880GA-UD3H - Core 0 different Multiplier and temps?

I have a GA-880GA-UD3H
With an AMD x3 450 rana chip with the unlocked 4th core.

Everything tests out great.. can run PRIME..  no problem.

But core0 Multiplier keeps dropping down to x12.5, yet 1,2 and 3 are all running at x16.

I turned off quiet&cool, as well as the power management settings in the bios..

What am I missing?

Also Temps in Overdrive read in the low to mid 60s (°C) while under full load yet in easytune it's reading 44°C

First of all, I'd use something more reliable for temps. CoreTemp or CPUID HWMonitor should do the trick. Secondly, what's your CPU temp? I'm kinda surprised that you can monitor core temps when you've unlocked the CPU.

When does it clock down? Is it random or, say, under stress?

I think there was some core control option in the ACC menu, too. Maybe look in there.

Lastly, this could also be bios reacting to instability. Or just a quirk of an unlocked processor.

Myself I've had a problem, too. Since updating bios to the newest one I've seen my PC booting without that 4th core several times ( Phenom II x3 720BE -> x4 20 ). No idea why and it either fixed itself or I've been lucky for a while now. It wasn't unstable, either. Considering that I left my CPU alone in the bios ( except for unlocking ) and it's capable of 3.5Ghz without problems... Actually, it should be rather comfy with it's bios settings as it's running 1.385v 2,8Ghz when normally I use 1.2v for that frequency.

I downloaded Hardware Monitor to see what I can get out of it..

Before running prime.



Then after running Prime less then 5 min


Basically I just want to know what I can trust and should I be worried about these core temps running Prime?  I haven't even gotten to OC yet but I'd like to make sure I've done everything I can before I even try.

As far as the Multiplier.. I guess I can manually set it and see if that helps.

Thought it was just me.. after reading everyone say you can not read Core temps after unlock..

Is this on the 780 motherboards maybe?  not an issue with my 880?
Don't know..just a thought..

Anyway.. TMPIN0 never changes..Is this outside temp?
then TMPIN1 inside the case

then TMPIN2 being the CPU? (is this the most important to watch or is it the core temp?

This would explain why it doesn't change..   (also why I thought it might be outside air temp which typically doesn't change in the house much either)

So what about TMPIN2  Assuming it is CPU temp
and my core temps?


This seams high for core temps..   I am testing a original Phenom x4 the same way and cores never reach above 55°c on a bone stock setup.
EDIT (I just read core temps aren't actually measured this is just a Calculated number)


TMP's don't match up at all so I can only assume these are different based on the MB manufacturer.

I have poor people's board - a 770 chipset.

In my case ( pardon the pun ) - TMPIN0 - "system" temp
                                                 - TMPIN1 - CPU temp
                                                 - TMPIN2 - no sensor, 79-82 degrees reading

I'd say that with your board TMPIN1 is CPU, if you're running on air. Why? It's cooler than system temp when idling and higher when under load. You have some nice inside temps, btw. With my PC the difference at idle is quite staggering with CPU being 27 degrees and case being 38 degrees. From what I remember the System sensor is near the graphic's card so that could be why. Especially considering the fact that I'm running my GPU at 25% fan speed at idle.

I wouldn't worry about core temps. As long as your CPU temp is fine you're ok.  Run IntelBurn Test for 15-20mins and you should reach a few degrees more on the CPU. I'd use that as my indicator of how much overclock is too much. To be safe, it'd be best to not exceed 60 degrees under load. Preferably stay below 56 but you have to remember that your CPU will likely never see temps like ones in Burn Test during normal use.

Perfect.. This is exactly what I was trying to know / figure out.

I wouldn't say my board is a Rich man's Board.. it was under 100 with the rebate..

I think it had the most features for the price, that is why I went with it..
Hind site I might have gotten a board that can do 2 Video cards at 16x...
But otherwise.. it's all good..


I really was worried about those core temps at first..
But then the more I read about them being calculated, and once unlocked that they don't read correctly..
I felt better..

Now.. do you have any clue why Core 0 lowers the multiplier even though Quiet&Cool is off.. All power Management is off.. and C1E or whatever that other setting was is also off..

Other than that, you could try to overclock from OS level. That's what I've done.

You can use K10Stat for that. Download it and see if this problem persists there ( lock a p-state and see if all cores are running right ).

Forgot your CPU isn't a BE. Then I guess you can just try and see if core 0 multiplier will go down with K10Stat. Just lock it at the right p-state and run a stress test. Maybe give it a little more voltage than stock as that could be the reason.

hi a AMD x3 450 dont= B50. i have the AMD chip 550BE = B50 there is a few things that look very strange with your  chip in cpu-z  .my o/s vista 64

From what I read... ALL Althlon II's show up as B50 once you unlock a core(s).

That's why it doesn't match yours.


As far as ACC..
The 880 MB doesn't have all the ACC settings the 770 did..
infact it's just one switch to unlock the cores..

Non of the advanced settings I read everyone trying with the 770s
