Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55 Micro ATX (Socket 1156) nightmare

Hi I am having problems with a new build & I am wondering if the mobo is faulty?
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55 Micro ATX (Socket 1156)
I have tried to load the drivers from the mobo disk & to load Os or chipset drivers, mobo sometimes starts to install Os,  then blue screen, hardware failure. Have spent a few days testing all new hardware, RAM, Blueray drive, Graphics card & i5 CPU, PSU etc.. & all working fine.
Have reset cmos & tried to install 32bit & also 64bit OS onto SataII & also tried an IDE HDD but mobo still fails.Have tried to install OS from external DVD drive, same issue again.
I have also tried changing the sata ACHP to IDE, still the issue remains.
The CPU is an i5 Intel Core i5-750 Quad Core 2.66GHz, graphics card is a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3, 2 x 2GB RAM & a 750w PSU. Lots of fans, not nice & cool inside the case.
Have checked the CPU for any bent pins & have fully tested the HDD which are all fine. At the moment I just have one 500Gb sataII HDD plugged into sata2-0 set as master. I have run out of idea’s now & am hoping that someone may be able to help, while I’ve still got some hair left to pull out!
Thanks in advance.

Hi & thanks for the welcome, I do have hair left on one side of my head so am sproting a nice combover at present  ;D

I have just tried the os install with vista 32bit & got this:
windows failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt 0xc000221
file: \windows\system32\drivers\ql40xx.sys

Then tried to install windows 7 64bit & got:
failed to format selected partition
error 0x80070057

no BSOD this time though, very strange.
The RAM is 2 x 2Gb GUDAR DDR3 PC3 1333Mhz cl9
PSU is Alphapower model ATX-750 which has 2 x 80mm fans
The CPU has its own fan & the case has 1 x 120mm & 2 x 80mm fans.
the 2 x 80mm fans are not connected at the moment.
Thanks very much for your help.

Well certainly an interesting problem.  The codes don't really seem to make a lot of sense as they are all pointing at different things.

OK, what port is the hard drive on?

What is the hard drive?

What mode is the port set to?

Is there only the one HDD attached?

From what I can summise it would seem to be likely down to the drive not formatting properly.

Yup thats why i'm a bit lost as I cant pinpoint the issue. I did format the new HDD using an external caddy on another pc that uses windows 7.
The Hard drive is in port 0 and have tried it in the other ports too.
The Hard drive is a samsung 500Gb sataII & I also tried a Baracuda 1Tb F3 SataII & an 80Gb hitachi ATA IDE.
Have tried settings for all ports on IDE & ACHP but still have the same problems.
At the moment there is only the one SATAII HD which is connected to port 0. All the parts in this new build are brand new.

Very funny one. I think this is a case of stripping the system and start again on the worktop.

Make sure that you observe anti-static precautions.

Lay some cardboard or something similar that is non-conductive on the worktop and remove the motherboard/CPU/heatsink/fan/buzzer/switch/one stick of memory and PSU from the case and put it on the cardboard. Now I know you haven't got any graphics but try and boot. The system should try and then fail emitting a series of beeps. Please post what sounds it makes.

Ok just to confirm, strip the PC, lay motherboard on cardboard, reconnect the PSU to the board, only leaving one stick of memory in a slot & attempt a boot?

Ok, motherboard makes no sound at all, boots for about 1 second, shuts off & re-starts itself after about 3-4 seconds. Continues in a cycle.
I did try swapping the memory with the other one just in case, but still exacltly the same.

Right so we have narrowed the problem down to a smaller area. So the next thing is to try and narrow it down even further.

Remove the CPU/heatsink/fan and have a close look at the lands(pads) underneath the processor. Each one should have a mark in the centre (maybe more than one if it has been refitted before). If there are any without marks or the marks are far off centre then it could be a problem with bent pins in the socket.

All pins are ok after my eyes adlusted I managed to check the pads  :o which all seem to have one mark on them.

If you are correct that is good news. You can carefully install the processor/heatsink/fan again and don't forget to clean off the old thermal paste and apply new.

When done try and POST again just to see if anything has changed.

Did you purchase all the parts from one supplier?

Yup ok will rebuild it & get right back to you.
I purchased everything apart from the CPU from Novatech & the CPU from Dabs, all online. I did put a ticket in on Friday but figured I would probably have to wait a while for an answer, so thought I would try this forum in the hope that someone such as yourself could maybe shine some light on my mobo issue  ;D

It was just I would have suggested sending all the parts back to the supplier to test but it makes it more difficult when there is more than one involved.

It would seem to be down to one of three items now then
The motherboard
The processor
The PSU

I  don't like the PSU as it is a cheap and nasty one (no offence) and generally you get what you pay for. I would recommend changing it anyway for something decent. I advise choosing a branded 600W+ with single 12 rail. Corsair, Seasonic, Gigabyte, etc. I am not 100% sure that is the problem but as I say I would change it anyway so if you agree swap it out and then we can see if it cures the problem.

Same BSOD. Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

0xfffffffffffffff0
0x0000000000000000
0xfffff8000CEC2FB1
0X0000000000000000

I have just tried the PSU in a different build & it seems to be working ok but do agree with you that a better one should be used & will purchase one shortly.
I do have a different mobo being delivered tomorrow so will try everything on that one, which will be interesting & will let you know how it goes, hopefully I wont have to pull the rest of my hair out as santa may need to put an extra bobble hat under my tree  ;D
Thanks ever so much for your time & help Dark Mantis.
