« on: November 17, 2010, 10:39:34 pm »
i just purchase GV-N460OC-1GI and my bios version is 70.04.1B.00.02 as GPUZ shows.

i checked gigabytes website and it says there is a new bios version F3.

so is my bios newer or not?

The F3 BIOS must be newer as it wasn't even released until 27th September 2010 whereas yours is dated 12th July 2010
The F3 BIOS version is numbered 70.04.13.00.01 as opposed to 70.04.1B.00.02 on yours.

Well several things could be wrong here.
1. bug in the code of @bios somewhere in the bios recognition part making it display F10 when in fact it should display F1 (probably)
2. You are looking at the wrong Bios for your card. Did you double check everything?

Here I have a question. Dose your graphics card work normally? Have you any problems with it?
I ask this because experience taught me never to upgrade Bios of anything it if works as is, even if there is newer Bios out there.
In short: Don't fix it if it works.

BIOS codes for graphics cards are differently sequenced than the motherboard ones. F10 is the first version of the second set of BIOS/firmware sequences. As your BIOS is quoted as F10 and the other BIOS is quoted as F3 it means they are for different revisions of the same card. So not compatible.

I would agree with this sentiment entirely.

I would advise you to go to GGTS directly and ask them for the latest BIOS for the card. There is only the one on the website.

Dear konstantinos,

Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. Gigabyte graphics cards have different BIOS versions for one model. For example, VGA BIOS version F1 to F9 will be one series and BIOS version F10 to F19 will be the other series. So in theory, if your VGA card's current bios version is F10, and you see version F3 available on the website, F10 is the latest BIOS vversion of the VGA card you use.

If you still have any further question or suggestion about our products/service, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will try our best to help you resolve the problem ASAP.

Regards,
GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY
