GA-890GPA-UD3h RAID 0 Dont Boot
« on: November 20, 2010, 01:54:42 pm »
Hi all
i have motherboard Gigabyte GA890GPA-UD3H and 4 hdd drive installed 2 seagate sata 500GB in raid 0 connected to SATA3_1 and SATA3_0 on this i have W7 x64 installed + i have SATA DVD connected to SATA3_3 + wd hdd750gb on GSATA2_6 and old IDE wd 130GB conenct by tape  as master and all run ok.
But when i disconnect IDE wd 130GB drive system don start i have tried all bios and connection combination after disconnect this 130 gb and i cant boot system.

i tried to set  scsii as first boot device in bios and nothing it cant boot.
Actualy the only working combination is to set scsii raid as first boot device and this old 130 as second OR this 130 as first and scsii as second >>> in any other combination it simply dont boot.

for example
first boot scsii raid
second 750sata wd
third old 130gb
NOT work
this 130 must by first or second to boot so from raid :| ??

Im running out of ideas.

PS i'm upgraded bios to the newest version and revision of motherboard is 2.0
PS.2 there is no data on this 130gb disk

BIOS:
ON CHIP SATA CONTROLER = ENABLE
ON CHIP SATA TYPE = RAID
ON CHIP SATA RAID5 SUPPORTS = DISABLE
ON CHIP SATA 3.0 SUPORT = ENABLE
ON BOARD GSATA/IDE Ctrl = ENABLE
ON BOARD GSATA/IDE Ctr MODE = IDE
ON CHIP PORT 4/5 TYPE = IDE

This isn't my domain as I am Moderator of the Intel section but I will try and set you on the right path if I can.
Did you have the IDE drive installed when you setup your RAID and installed Windows?

In that sort of situation it is always best to do the Windows install with only the drives that are needed for the OS to go on. You will also find that most systems don't really like having IDE and SATA devices on at the same time.

You could try clearing the CMOS first after removing the drive and see if that allows you to boot form your RAID. You will of course need to load Optimised BIOS defaults and select your RAID again before booting into the OS.
