GA-EP45T-Extreme Motherboard reporting different speeds
« on: November 22, 2010, 01:45:00 am »
My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-Extreme.
I have installed some OCZ 3P13332G memoryboards 4 x 2GB each total 8GB
Running CPU-Z the Memory on the Motherboard is reporting in

Max Bandwidth:
Slot 1 : PC3-10700F (667mhz)

but in Slot 2 its : PC3-8500F (533mhz)

Slot 3 reports : PC3-10700F (667mhz)

but in Slot 4 its : PC3-8500F (533mhz)

Is this correct ??? Slot 2 and Slot 4 reporting differents speeds  ???
Do I have a fault with my Memoryboards  :-\

Thanks for any advice... :)

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

Did you purchase the memory modules as a complete kit?

If not do the sticks have a sticker on the side of them with the speeds/timings?

It was 2 packs with the same speeds I ordered quality of 2 x packs of 2x4GB sticks..
Both packs were identical model numbers nothing different about them....

My initial thoughts would be that the memory was mispackaged and that one set was not up to the full spec. I would advise running Mmetest86+ on the modules one at a time in the no 1 slot at the full rated speed and see if you get any faults. You will need to let each one run about ten loops to be sure.

Still definitely looks to me like two different specs of memory or at least their SPDs have been programmed differently.

Dark Mantis, You were right !!  ;)

On closer inspection, the 2 Memoryboards were in fact a slower speed 533Mhz
And notice the Product number 10666  not 1066, the 10666 is PC3 - 8500F

I ran the memtest on only them and they passed fine.
But I don't like the idea of mixing different speeds, so I'll put them on ebay and use the cash to buy another 2 x 2GB sticks..
Thanks for your advice and help...

Cheers Dark Mantis  ;D

I am glad we managed to sort it out anyway and often the most obvious reason is the right one. Anyway problem solved. ;)
