Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

You don't want much do you?  Maybe it would just be easier to set up an active desktop from here  ;)

Well as far as your CPU  settings go just leave them on auto and it should work fine.

As for the memory that will be a little more complicated. Firstly is the memory a specified kit that has been tested together at the factory?
Also is it compatible with this board and on the QVL?
What are the rated timings and voltage for the RAM?

When you say you are running your disks in Hybrid mode what exactly do you mean?

i don''t understand also what is QVL and if memory is compatible with it...

the specs  for the memory are
1600MHz DDR3
CL 7-8-8-26 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
Available in 4GB optimized kits
Unbuffered
Fatal1ty Branded XTC Heatspreader
Lifetime Warranty
1.65 Volts
240 Pin DIMM

Just a joke, take no notice.

The QVL is the Qualified Vendors List and is a list of products that are tested to work together harmoniously. There is one for Gigabyte motherboards that says what memory has been tested by them and approved(although by no means comprehensive) and there should be one form OCZ which will show which motherboards they have tested their memory modules with and approved.

I haven't any experience of these disks so I cannot comment on them specifically with any degree of reliablity. However I wouldn't expect it to make much difference to the overall speed unless you were running them through a controller that could make the most of it. If you have it attached to the Marvell 9128 SATA3 controller that could give you problems as well as not being as fast as it is supposed to be. The Marvell chip doesn't pass TRIM commands so the health of the drive would start to suffer.

i don't use the marvell controller...the sata 2 with intel rst 32 drivers.

i haven't check the qvl....if the memory is not listed...does it means that it shouldn't work??i  mean that there are soooo many modules.....who can check all of them????is there a way to check if everything is ok between motherboard and memory??

the memory is tested i think with p55 chpset and i7...

Hi
The  specs I have just copied off the Intel site and are as follows:

Processor Number i7-870
# of Cores 4
# of Threads 8
Clock Speed 2.93 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency 3.6 GHz
Intel® Smart Cache 8 MB
Bus/Core Ratio 22
DMI 2.5 GT/s
Instruction Set 64-bit
Instruction Set Extensions SSE4.2
Embedded Options Available No
Supplemental SKU No
Lithography 45 nm
Max TDP 95 W
VID Voltage Range 0.6500V-1.4000V

Well if the memory is compatible it should run with the timings you have already given me entered manually.

CL 7-8-8-26 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
1.65 Volts
QPI/Vtt set to 1.15v - 1.2v
Set the Uncore at 2x your memory multiplier(plus 1 or 2) so if you have a 12x multiplier set the uncore to 24 - 26

There are a lot of settings that only become changeable once you have changed the main setting to Manual from Auto.

No, it was just a thought that maybe you were running an older version of the BIOS that could have used an update or that the processor wasn't supported by the BIOS version you were using.

What PSU are you using? Make/model please.
