GA-X58A-UD3R rev1 doesn't boot from usb!
bubbl3:
I would suggest you to try another usb device. I personally had this problem and after trying several devices isolating 2 that don't boot on my GA-X58 but do on other boards, i started to think not all usb devices are compatible with GA-X58 boards.
Just imagine my 16GB PNY flashdrive doesn't even work with qflash, seem the board can't initialize it.

I think that you are quite right. The 58 chipset does seem to be a bit funny about which USB drives it works with or more to the point which it will recognise on booting. This is often a problem that appears when trying to use one to do a BIOS flash. It would appear that in those circumstances at least the smaller drives are usually better.

I had the same issue, would not properly install from a DVD drive, used a different drive and everything was fine. I could never get it to boot off USB flash drive, but I did not try different versions.
