Dual channel memory failure question

I have a GA-P55-UD4P board with a core i5-655K.

When I use both white slots (1 & 3), the PHASE LED all light up. GREEN, GREEN, ORANGE, RED. and continue to cycle, forever, then corrupt BIOS, However only restores it back to F3, from F10 with only one stick in.

If I use a white and a blue slot (3 & 4), it boots fine in Single channel mode.

I have two sets of RAM, which happens on both.

Bad board or CPU?

I need a little more information before i can help you. I think that you have got the motherboard model wrong and so if you could check that first and I also need the revision number of the board which will be stamped in the bottom left corner near the PCIE slots.

Yes I think that it might have only been sold in the USA but not here in the UK because we don't have it on our system but I found it on the US site.

It sounds as if your Backup BIOS isn't synchronised with the Main BIOS.

To check, go into the BIOS and on the MAIN page press F9 for system info.   You should see both BIOS versions listed, if they do not match please update the backup BIOS to match the current.

To do that, reboot and where you would normally press DEL to enter the BIOS, instead press Alt + F12, this will flash the Backup BIOS with the MAIN BIOS contents.   Do not worry when you see a recovery comment, that is normal and means it is flashing the backup BIOS.

Wait a second... You're telling me that all this trouble is because of the backup and primary BIOS being wrong?

That is not what I said but it could be a contributing factor and it is always best to fix one fault at a time before moving on to the next.

Well I would say as a safety point to leave it until you have been running the new BIOS for a couple of weeks and are sure there is no problem with it before you synchronise the Backup BIOS with the Main BIOS. That way if anything suddenly goes wrong with the new version you have the older Backup version to fall back on. But yes I would say it is a good idea to keep the versions synchronised most of the time.
