GA-770T-USB3 BSOD whilst playing LOTRO

GA-770T-USB3 BSOD whilst playing LOTRO
« on: December 06, 2010, 02:29:43 pm »
Heya, I've had this mobo for a few months now and I've been constantly having problems whilst I play LOTRO. It will randomly BSOD which has become annoying. I've not had any other problem with any other games and the BSOD will only happen about once a fortnight. I've decided to try and update my mobo drivers to see if this helps before I contact LOTRO customer support but the problem is I'm not sure what revision my mobo is. I've noticed that there are two versions 1 and 1.3 and I'm not sure which drivers I should download. On my user manual it says my mobo is Rev. 1001, does that mean I need to download v1? If someone could point me to the correct drivers I would really appreciate it, thanks :)

Regards

Rhia

Hi
you can find the revision number of your motherboard printed on the bottom left hand edge/corner of the motherboard.

This number is used mainly for BIOS as they can be different but I think the drivers are the same for both versions of this motherboard.

If your motherboard is revision 1.0 then you might find that updating BIOS to the latest version could resolve your BSOD's.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Heya and thanks for getting back to me. I've just had a look now and it does say that my mobo is Rev 1.0. Your advice was very much appreciated and I hope that updating the mobo drivers will eliminate the bsods.

One thing though that I'm curious about. After experiencing the problems I have had with this mobo I searched for customer reviews and I found quite a lot of people experiencing bsods with this particular mobo. Is this a common issue with the Rev 1.0 mobo's at all?

EDIT: I've just tried downloading and installing the mobo drivers for Rev 1.0 and it's saying it's not compatible with my operating system which is Windows 7 64bit and there's no option to chose for the mobo drivers what operating system you are running. So can't update my mobo drivers atm :( Any suggestions?

Hi
I think you just missed the Operating System option it is at the top of the list on the right hand side near the option for Drivers.

Hi,

as far as I am aware most of the problems have been solved with latest BIOS updates which for your revision is F4. If you are not using this version of BIOS I would recommend updating to it.

If you're not sure how to flash BIOS there is a guide here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html

ty for the guide, I found it very helpful and after following the guide I was able to update the bios easily and now have the F4 revision. Hopefully this will resolve the problems with LOTRO and I will no longer get the bsods! If not then I'll be contacting Customer Support for LOTRO to see if they can work out why it's only happening when I play this particular game! Thank you all for your advice and help :)
