GA-MA770-US3 (Rev-2.0) First Run Issue
« on: December 07, 2010, 07:18:18 am »
Hello everyone.

I've bought a new Gigabyte GA-MA770-US3 (Rev-2.0) mainboard and Phenom II X6 1055T (125W) CPU. I properly updated BIOS to "FJ" version. But when I first run my PC, it takes about 20-30 seconds to start running. I mean when I press the power button, it tooks 20-30 seconds to see the POST screen. I tried FI and FJ BIOS versions but none of them worked for me. I also cleared DMI Pool Data on each BIOS update (also loaded default CMOS settings - I used @BIOS software provided by Gigabyte). What is wrong with my mainboard? How can I fix this?

System Specs.
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (125W)
Gigabyte GA-MA770-US3 (Rev-2.0)
2GB (2*1GB) Mushkin DDR2 800MHz CL4 RAM
AMD/ATi HD 3850 512MB
Xilence 600W Gaming Edition PSU
Seagate 7200.10 320GB SATA II HDD
Samsung SpinPoint 1TB SATA II HDD
Common Card Reader
Cooler Master Elite Chassis

Hi there,

first off I would suggest you try re-flashing BIOS but DO NOT use @BIOS. Instead use the QFlash utility which is a much more reliable method for updating BIOS. Check here if you are not sure how to use QFlash: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Hi.

Firstly, thanks for your reply and your assistance. I've tried it (your suggestion). But again didn't work. It still takes 20-30 seconds to see POST screen. All the coolers run as normal (at 100% speed), all the lights are on but there is nothing. Motherboard doesn't sound the "beep" voice before 20-30 seconds.

I sent an e-mail to Gigabyte GTS but they offered a solution which is some kind joke. They told me to update BETA bios. But they do not gurantee anything. They don't care if my CPU or GPU fails because of BETA bios. They also don't gurantee if my motherboard fails with BETA bios.

I've tried nearly everyting instead of BETA bios. I won't try it. A beta bios shouldn't be told as a solution. Because beta bios needs solution itself. What else can I do now?

If I cannot find any solution in a few days, I'm gonna give it back and buy another motherboard which is absolutly not a Gigabyte product.

Hi

I do understand your feelings about using a beta BIOS version to update your motherboard but to be honest by the time it gets onto the website it has been fairly extensively tested and is about to be made  a full version. We run loads of beta versions with no problems whatsoever and you have a Dual BIOS if anything should happen.

I would certainly advise you to run the update via QFlash and chances are it will help your situation. If you do decide to go ahead it is available here as FKA:
