Hello everyone, i have a question about my mobo.
I have just install a video card with 1GB memory and i have 3GB DDR2, but on boot post the amount of memory is just 2,88 GB ddr2. It's true that my motherboard has a 4GB limitation, that's what i heard. If so, it's k that i use it with 3 GB RAM or should i use just 2 GB RAM ?

You are a little confused as to the maximum memory that can be used. Your motherboard's maximum capacity would be 4 GB total. You though I think are talking about the Windows 32bit limit of roughly 4GB. You could have more than this but only this amount would be recognised and used.

The memory your graphics card  has on it is totally seperate and of no concern in this discussion.

I found out that my old mobo has chipset limitation of 4GB maximum addressable. There is no way for my board with that chipset to physically address more RAM, no matter what the OS does. So i must find buy a new mobo. Thanks anyway

All windows 32bit vercan only read 4GB RAM and no more, but if you use 64bit Windows then it will recognize more than 4GB of RAM and higher and use it as well

Yes, it's the motherboard, well chipset really that's the limitation

2 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 4 GB of system memory

This will be minus a small amount for the motherboard itself, and then minus any installed graphics memory.

x64 operating system will not increase this limit in any way
