Gigabyte GA-EQ45M-S2

Gigabyte GA-EQ45M-S2
« on: December 28, 2010, 02:30:20 am »
Hi,

Im looking to purchase a Gigabyte GA-EQ45M-S2 board. But need to know if it will except PCIe Raid Controller in its x16 slot?
The reason I ask is, I have a Intel DQ45CB motherboard which is the same chipset and it doesnt support none graphic cards in the x16 slot.

The reason for the interest in the board is down to the vt-d feature and it excepts intel quad core's (I have a Q8400 spare)

Cheers

Your best bet to get a for sure answer on that would be to ask Gigabyte directly
http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/technical-support.aspx

Or maybe Dark Mantis can get some info from Runn3r here for you?

Yes I will be happy to, but there again they are not back in the office until next week so don't expect any fast replies I am afraid.

Done! Message sent to runn3R.

Thanks Dark Mantis, much appreciated.

Just had a reply from asus support regarding the same question for 1 for their motherboards. Thought it was very professional

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is Jany and it's my pleasure to help you with your problem.

Generally, the PCI-E slot on the motherboard is designed for graphic cards. But if you have some other PCI-E device and boot up from the onboard VGA, you could have a try.

No problem, you're welcome.

A very nice reply just a shame it is not more informative! I don't really think "well you can try it" is the proper response from people who should be able to give a definitive answer. :-\

Hi smurfster

As far as I know this MB (with FD bios) has been tested with Adaptec PCI-E Raid AAR-1430SA in PCI-E x16 slot and there was no problem to detect the Raid card.
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)
