« on: January 02, 2011, 02:52:42 pm »
Hello all,
its my first post here but ofc some problems make me to seek help here on forum. My problem is caused by GF 580 i bought that card 5 days ago and since i installed with latest drivers i see some disturbing things, what i mean the performance in games i play is worse than my previous gtx 260 (my setup listed below) The main things is FPS drops a lot causing graphic lag example in COD:BO even to 20 fps on beginning than back to normal 60fps with sync but for example when i reach an enemy who start shooting at me fps are drop a bit but that causing also graphic lag that things never happened on 260 i switched cards for tests 3 times always same. System is brand new win 7 x64
Tx from any help

My setup is:
CPU: i7 930
Mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R v2
PSU:CoolerMaster 850W
Hdd: OczVertex 2 120GB
Ram: 6GB OCZ 1600MHz

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

First question is are you running both cards at the same resolution, etc when testing?

Is it possible that it could be a lag in your internet connnection that is causing the problem?

I take it that you are using the same driver for both cards though?

It might just be that ther driver hasn't been optimised for the new card yet. It can be a problem when these things are first released.

I don't think is the driver problem i checked this on different games on same drivers as on the different driver version my conclusion is simple almost every time that there is fast drop of fps (not much can be even 4 or 5 fps) graphic lag occur. On other cards i check there is no problem on same settings fps can even fast drop 10-15 nothing happens no graphic lag. Unfortunately in some rare occasions fast drop of fps (only on BFBC2 when for example big explosion occur) i have blue screen :< or pc hang. Any ideas ?? Is there reason to take card back to service to check it out?

Well obviously the card isn't performing correctly. It is just why that is the problem. If it isn't the drivers then you need to look for another reason why you get the lag/dropped fps.

I would suggest searching the internet for any similar problems and see if you can get some pointer.

In that case I would suggest returning the card to the retailer for replacement/RMA.

To rule out the card, meaning making sure it's not a so called "Monday product".
You should try it in a somebody else's computer. Before you do though. Make sure they have enough power to run sucha card.
Recommended minimum power is 600W.

If it works fine in another rig. Maybe you have a broken powersupply.
I knows this is basic stuff but not everybody knows where to start so..

Tx for answer as for the card i return it for RMA today, we will see what Gigabyte will say :) np for me to w8 i have another gtx 260 working perfect :)
As for the PSU to be true i dont believe is that the case its a 3 rd PSU i replace that finally work fine previous Bequiet and Chieftec didnt do the job :)

A lot of these high powrer drain cards work better on a single 12v rail PSU as the startup current can sometimes be too great for a multi rail PSU to handle unless it is massive.
