GA-P35C-DS3R DDR3 Memory size limit

I need help:
I've got Samsung DDR3 4gb 1600mhz modules M378B5173DB0-CK0 and when I insert them with all settings in bios set to default and auto, the mobo won't boot. it doesn't even produce "beep" sound when i power up pc.
I've also noticed that mobo won't remember setup of voltages and speeds in bios that I've made changed from default and that when I insert my ddr2 800mhz it always resets my changes to default values.
I've tried to overclock FSB to 333mhz and set cpu (E2180) to 6x333=2000mhz but the bios always resets itself and sets fsb to default but leaves multiplier to value that i've set (6x)

is it necessary to oc fsb to higher than default, let say to 333mhz so I get 1333mhz prior to installing a ddr3 module or ddr3 should work at default 800mhz also?

With that CPU that you are using might be the problem. It only supports 800 mhz memory. You might be able to get 1066 memory to run but I think with that CPU you pushing it.

If you look at the one post with the screen shot showing 8gb installed. He is using a Q6600 that supports 1066.

thnx for info. then I'll wait for xeon e5420 (with s771 to s775 mod). it supports fsb 1333 to i should support ddr3@1333mhz

I've set all values to "auto" when I've inserted ddr3 so is there possibility that ddr3 could have raised fsb and by doing so it made cpu unstable? i will try to set fixed fsb values to 200mhz, maybe it will cause ddr3 to work downclocked at 800mhz but overall sistem could work?

it works but with different DDR3 modules:
i've read that DDR3 must not be based on 512mb chips and my 4gb DDR3 1600mhs is exactly like that - one sided 8x512mb chips

So I've got 2 other sticks: G.Skill 4gb DDR3 1333 (16x256mb) and Kingston 2gb DDR3 1333 (16x128mb) and it works perfectly in flex mode giving in total 6gb (slot 1 - 4gb and slot 2 - 2gb)
By auto settings caused that memory worked by default at 800mhz cause od 200mhz fsb but I've OCed it at 333mhz and setting divider to 4~ so memory works at 1333mhz and I've lowered multiplier to x6 so cpu works at default 2000mhz (333x6) with fixed voltage at 1.35V (i maybe could go lower but I don't want to mess around it cause new Xeon cpu will arrive soon)

Today I'll test this setup by switching that 1333mhz ddr3 with those of 1600mhz with 512mb chips because maybe problem is with setting up bios first and then inserting higher clock modules. I'll report findings

No, that's not true. Other users had success with 8 512x64 chips ram modules for example:

Just bought 2x 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz memory from Kingston.
Plugged in and rebooted with default (i.e. auto) settings in BIOS. Works!

Tried replacing the 4x1GB sticks of ddr2 I had (one of them died) with 2x4GB ddr3 yet it won't even boot to bios, just keeps restarting.

Mem sticks:  GSkill Ripjaws 2x4GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 CL9-9-9-24  1.5V (F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-10666cl9d-8gbxl- )

BIOS version: F12

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 (9x266Mhz) which easily overclocks to well over 9x356.

Board revision: 1.1

Please help me.
