X58A-UD7 and X58A-UD9 memory support

X58A-UD7 and X58A-UD9 memory support
« on: January 04, 2011, 12:27:16 pm »
I'm wondering if a motherboard supporting memory blocks with Module P/N KHX2000C9D3T1K3/3GX also supports Module P/N KHX2000C9D3T1K3/12GX.

The only difference I can figure out is the size of the memory blocks. Does anyone know or know where I can find out?

Hi and welcomre to the Gigabyte Forum.

The memory you are talking about is Kingston and according to their website configurator any or the following would be compatible.
They dont actually list the specific modules you posted as compatible.

I know they both supports KHX2000C9D3T1K3/3GX, as they're mentioned in the "supported memory lists" for both boards. I was thus wondering, if a memory block of double the size, but otherwise the same, would be supported..

Well looking at the specs I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be compatible at all but I haven't tried them so can't say positively.

Normally the manufacturer's website is the favourite place as usually the maker of the memory will check their product against all available boards.

I would recommend this following memory.  One of the only rams that I don't have issues with on my UD-7

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231335&cm_re=G_Skill_6GB-_-20-231-335-_-Product

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!!!

Yes I can also recommend the Corsair Dominator 1600 memory as that is what I am running on my UD7 and has been rock steady.

While we are at it, Mushkin's work great in UD7 too!

As for the memory you asked about, those are not the same at all really as one set is 1GB modules and the other is 4GB modules.

4GB modules are probably not on the QVL since they would be newer, so you may have the best luck googling about those modules in any GA-EX58 or GA-X58A board, surely someone has tried them.

If you want to be sure and want kingston, the 3GX 3GB kit is on the QVL for both boards.   The 12GB kit will probably work too, but I can't say for sure.

Well at least if you should have any problems with it now you can put the blame squarely on their shoulders.

Yes very fast timings indeed. I don't have any experience with this particular memory but the specs are good.
