GA-EX58-UD3R Rev 1.0 -> Don't know where to start? Bios / Ram Failure

System:
GA-EX-UD3R Rev 1.0
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 6GB CL9 Kit w/3x 2GB XMS3 modules, CL9-9-9-24, for Core i7
Intel Core i7 920 2,66GHz Socket 1366 Box
Corsair Powersupply 750W Black,ATX/EPS, 140mm Fan, 8xSATA, SLI

This is my hardware atm.
I had some problems recently where it did come a clicking sound from the MB. The screen went black, no signal from video card.  I then thought it was the MB and had it sent in for failure checking.
"Following tests haven been made:
     * System gave picture at first start - OK
     * Installation/Stresstest, installation of Windows 7 and drivers - OK
     * Stresstest, Burn In Test 6.0 in 30min - OK
     * Stresstest, Prime95 25.5 0ni 2h - OK
"

They didn't find anything failing with the motherbord. When I got it back I failsearched it again and I discoverd it was one of the Rams making the Mobo click and not showing anything on the screen. So I've been running the mobo with 2 x 2 GB Rams and recently bought a OSZ Vertex2 120GB SSD. Tweaking my win7 64bit to get max results and today i Updated my Bios to F12i. Hopeing it would help in some way. The update went fine and the computer restarted. When booting up the fans start up, mobo LEDS is all lighted up. And now the clicking is back. I get no picture on the screen(when my 285 GTX is connected). I've tried with only one ram and in different slots. Same clicking and the computer restarts in like 5 seconds. And continues to loop this procedure. And I've removed the battery from mobo in hope to reset BIOS but no luck there.

Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The first thing you should do is to replace the full set of memory modules. You must send the whole kit back for replacement as they are ballanced.

Are you trying to run everything at stock speeds, including the memory?

Have you checked that there are no bent pins?

Hi and ty Dark Mantis :)

New info for me! I'll check on the pins. And yes running stock speed.

I'll RMA them.

Very carefully remove the heatsink and fan. Probably a slight twisting motion is best to release the two as the thermal paste can act like a glue.

Once off remove the CPU taking extreme care both physically and electrically(static) and place somewhere safe.

Make sure that the lighting is very good and even.

Now scrutinise the socket for any pins that are out of alignment, even slightly.
If in any doubt whatsoever take a couple of macro (close up) photos of the socket and post them on here for us to check.

Also look at the bottom of the CPU at the lands (little copper circles) and make sure that there is a mark in each somewhere near the centre.
If there are any missing marks or any of the pins are obviously bent then that is your problem.

I've overlooked it a couple of times and no, can't seem to find any bent pins or circles without a dot in the middle...

Trying with all 3 new ram sticks next move?

I've talked to the support from where i bought my stuff and they recommended sending both Ram and MB in. So back it goes...

Hope they "solve" it.

Probably the best solution as it is much easier for them to find the problem as they casn swap out parts to test them. ;)

Wtf mate!?!! I read somewhere that you could set your dvd to sata 0_0 and then put your motherboard disc into drive. That way i managed to reset my bios?!?! so now it seems to work just fine.

next problem is thst i can't install win7x64 on my ssd using intels latest ahci drivers. i get error message and cant chose thst disk. however if i use the win7 ahcidrivers its no problem at all it seems??
is it possible to updatw to latest ahci driver after win7 is installed?

/cheers tatem
